Those who have dismissed Warren as "unlikable," "unrelatable" or "unelectable" . . .

. . . really need to take another look.

Democrats who have bought into the idea that Elizabeth Warren is "unelectable" really need to take another look. In terms of laying out a clear and coherent policy agenda, she is miles ahead of any of the other candidates. A number of candidates have now joined her stance against appearing in any events hosted by Fox News, but it was Elizabeth Warren who led the way, and made such a compelling case.

She is leading the way in her development of economic policies. One of those policies, a plan to reach out to small business owners to get them to understand that their interests and those of giant corporations are fundamentally different (see The Atlantic, "Elizabeth Warren Has a Theory About Corporate Power" ), is a real innovation for a Democratic candidate. And in response to the outrageous abortion laws just passed in Georgia and Alabama, she has come out with a bold plan to protect a woman's right to choose.

This is what leadership looks like, folks.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

There's only ONE candidate that I truly dislike... but as far as Warren is concerned, she has the demeanor and the stamina that would serve her well as president. I like that she LISTENS to others and that she DOES NOT INTERRUPT others by waving her hand in their faces. Whenever I see anyone doing that, I can't help but think how arrogant and disrespectful it is. She has a genuineness and sincerity that truly shows through and I think that connects with voters.

I'll dance a happy jig when the candidate I despise the most decides that he ("or she'') doesn't stand a chance and that his (or her) attacks on the Democratic party only serve to weaken the party with division and distrust and resentment. Those things lead to voter apathy and that just makes it easier for the GOP and Russia to steal elections.

Have (had) a Fox News-watching friend and entrepreneur who railed about regulations and Democrats and Bill Clinton (goes back a ways) putting him out of business...when in reality it was big corporations undercutting and sabotaging him at every turn. Happened more than once in the 90s and early 00s: he'd come up with a good idea/product; work his butt off to get it into the marketplace and then watch his business go under, swamped by someone else with deeper pockets and the ability to run faster with his ideas....

It was all the Democrats' fault though. I eventually gave up on him. Don't even know if he luvs him some tRump; last I heard (2014?) he was hoping to retire and move to Belize i.e. "get out of this effed up country."

Actually, I think most of our top-tier candidates (Biden, Sanders, Harris, Warren, Buttigieg, and more) are electable.

We just need to be united around the final choice.

In terms of likeability, I think I very much dislike Biden, personality-wise. It's been that way since a few years ago when I saw some videos of the Clarence Thomas nomination hearings with Anita Hill. I saw a man more concerned about showing everyone he was in charge than providing a fair and balanced hearing.

She's got good policies, and is a great Senator, and that's where we (all of us) need her to continue to be... 'fighting the good fight'

My son and middle child are both lawyers and they really like her (my son loves the fact that she is a bankruptcy attorney) and my middle child's best friend (another lawyer) has already maxed out for Warren

I gave Warren a donation a while back because my middle child asked me to.

top two preferences.

I will wait until after the first debate to make my choice.

What has also recently encouraged me about her candidacy is that my older son REALLY likes her. HIS top preference is Jay Inslee. But he also likes Warren. He also has a pretty good feel for trends in his generation and reported to me this week that, based on his anecdotal experience, which involves both blue and white collar workers among white and minority groups, Warren is trending favorably among that demographic.

Again, that's only anecdotal experience and it is from the DC metropolitan area, which is generally liberal.

But still ....

But her voice, vision and calculated plans to turn this country around are worth the gamble.

We really need to have a MASSIVE blue wave in the Senate. These fuckers managed to fight everything the last real President proposed, and giving them a majority turned them into a wrecking ball to the legislative

36. I think the Democrats who talk about "electability" don't know what they are talking about.
Fri May 17, 2019, 06:53 PM
May 2019

Their basic discussion is that the candidate should be bland vanilla to be electable. But that has nothing to do with what ACTUALLY happens. It is the candidate who INSPIRES the voters who gets elected. They didn't feel Obama was electable. They don't have a clue but use that as the justification for their personal choice.

GO ELIZABETH. She is AWESOME! And gaining ground.
(and of course, it seems that every one of the Democratic candidates I see I love)

Voters need to forge past their doubts, prejudices and really listen, think about her plans, look at her record, make the good faith calculation and vote her that shot.

If any Democrat is better than Trump, and if she and Kamala can't make it to the presidency -- or even the primary(!) -- they are not the problem.

The problem is the disease of Patriarchy that's infected the body politic with a sick view of women leaders.

Is it legitimate to contemplate whether she would match up well against President Sociopath?

President Sociopath certainly spends a lot of time "thinking" about that, as evidenced by his attacks on her. He's been trying to take her out for 2 years now.

Same as the endless DU "M$Greedia" complaints. Why not say who specifically did express that opinion? X centrist apologist on Y new station said Z?

Fri May 17, 2019, 07:50 PM
May 2019

in a restaurant/bar in the town near me in western mass during her first campaign for Senate. At the time i was working as a dishwasher/prep cook and happened to be having my shift beer after work when she walked in with her entourage. She ordered a local IPA (actually ASKED for a local IPA... half pint). There were only maybe a dozen or so patrons in the place and everyone had a chance to ask her questions... totally impromptu and unscheduled. I remembered thinking she was fantastic. I still think so. She's been my Senator for awhile now and her office has always been responsive. Western Mass always kinda gets shafted in state politics though that's maybe a different argument that has little to do with Sen Warren.

OMG LANSLIDE VICTORIES!! Primary & general.

Touring Pakistan and Afghanistan aren’t enough? My son, who was a diplomat in Pakistan at the time, was one of the “tour guides” for Senators Warren, McCain, Graham (ugh), and two or three others a few years ago. He accompanied them in Pakistani helicopters out to tour the battle-ravaged areas on the border. This was not play-acting. It was real.

I don’t think she actually needs to have slaughtered civilians in order to qualify to be Commander in Chief.

(Perhaps I missed some nuance in your post. If so, I apologize.)

My only concern is that she's too smart for the job. Kind of like police departments, I fear the electorate isn't comfortable with anyone who appears too intelligent, but we can hope.

She understands the economy- what's screwed up and what might fix it - as well as anyone who has ran for president in a century or more (Teddy R understood the macro problems and how to attack them).

rationale stands now. Everyone needs a college education to get a job, therefore,
it should be free.
