Bern Notice: Kamala Harris Ties Bernie Sanders in Early Democratic Primary States (Monmouth poll)

From Mediaite:

https://www.mediaite.com/election-2020/bern-notice-kamala-harris-ties-bernie-sanders-in-early-democratic-primary-states/

California Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris may be running in fourth or fifth place in many Democratic primary polls, but a new survey finds her tied for second with Bernie Sanders in the all-important early states.

According to the latest Monmouth University poll, former Vice President Joe Biden holds a more commanding lead in non-early states, with 38 percent to Sanders’ 16%, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren‘s 11%, and Harris’ 8%.

But in the early states, which “include those scheduled to or likely to hold a primary/caucus event by Super Tuesday (March 3rd),” Biden leads with 26%, while Harris and Sanders are tied at 14%, with Warren trailing in fourth place at 9%.

In more bad news for Sanders, he dropped ten points since Monmouth’s March poll, and slid five points since April. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg dropped from 8% in April to 6% this month, and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) sank from 2% in April to 1% in May. Warren has gained four points since April.

they must have done something wrong with their polling for BS not to be decisively in 2nd place

they probably polled too many old white people or something like that. cause old white people are definitely in the bag for Kamala

with that need to suck in their guts, reject self-induced stupidity and face painful truths. We're powerful because we vote in higher percentages than most. We're powerful because thanks to the medical revolution we're a vigorous and growing rather than shrinking demographic.

We also average somewhat wiser and definitely more experienced than younger demographics. There's a big reason few of us were fooled by Sanders' rhetoric and more kids were, and it's not some incredibly asinine imagined fondness for old Ozzie and Harriet reruns and Monsanto commercials.

So here's reality: The demographics on that poll, aside from mostly being white of course, are significant in that those voters are paying more attention earlier. Did you imagine all the really bad baggage Sanders created for himself -- and is still creating -- wouldn't turn off solid Democrats?

Here's another one: Smart Democrats know they are neither the problem nor the enemy.

"Truth is the heart of liberal democracy." Jason Stanley, political philosopher, speaking on what it takes to protect liberalism and democracy.

early voters scrutinize them. Seeing Sanders in second, even if due to name recognition and a huge field of strangers, has been causing expressions I certainly wouldn't want to freeze on my face.

Warren gaining points is a good sign, if she can keep it up. Bernie rapidly losing points may be due to people slowly waking up to the idea of other people are in the race.

It's still early yet, so all the trends won't be seen for a while. We're still in the new-flashy-thing stage of the race.
