Suddenly, Securing the Election is the #1 issue

If we don’t secure the election, how can we be sure of its outcome?

It’s clear the 2016 outcome was modified. Russsian cyber attacks breached systems in at least one state, calling the outcome of those states’ results into question.

Preventing this from happening again is of the utmost importance since Democrats are unlikely to correct the outcome through removal of Trump and and certainly nothing will be done to secure the election legislatively or through executive action.

This means a candidate must recognize the problem and work with each state to secure their election results.

Which candidate is the strongest on this issue and and what do they plan to do about it.

I was previously focused on climate change as the most important issue but that can never be changed if we cannot get the right people into office to solve it.

primary today, I would vote for:

is not helpful.

I have lots of comments that may deal with the way the US election system works.

Why should I have to identify (or un-identify) with a candidate to respond to one of these "Undecided Voters".

As far as I am concerned, this is a problem with democracy in general, not only in the US and not for only "Democratic" voters.

Outlaw donations and have publicly funded elections, end the revolving door, and instituting term limits. This would prevent future Mitch McConnells and tone down partisanship.

Until we do we will continue with the corruption to our detriment!

I do. You cannot tell me that Rove didn't have the fix in. But we just out performed his "fix" in 2012 and will have to do the same thing in 2020!! Would be nice if we had ALL Dems working together to get this done!!

and the Secretary of State left in a huff that night. Forget who he was. We thought that some heavily Democratic districts held off on reporting as long as possible, and that somehow made the steal more difficult. I think the Obama Campaign knew what they were dealing with. Ohio was the 2004 Kenneth Black fiasco as well.

Jun 2019

Are they securing their servers?
Are the candidates securing their servers?
Are they proactively trying to catch the hackers?

Maybe they should go to France to find out how they were able to fool the Russians during Macron's election.

My biggest problem is that i don't hear anyone talking about securing the DNC information, and trying to combat the hacking, trying to get the crooks before they cause damage, the only thing I hear is complaining about hos the buffoon, and the repubs in the Senate have weakened the cyber department in charge of preventing the hacking on the election.

2016 was a test, they are coming with full force now knowing how unpopular the buffoon is. Brace yourselves because what iscoming if nothing is done will be very upsetting.

They have no strategy to counter the Republican dirty tricks.

They have also repeatedly denied at every level that it is possible to interfere in any way with how votes are processed, collected, counted, communicated upstream, and tabulated at the state level. This despite testimony by professionals and repeated demonstrations of how easy it is to do.

I wish that GOTV was enough to do it. It will certainly help. In some precincts and in some states that will not do enough. It is false logic to assume that only the Russians have the ability to alter voter registration or voting tabulation. Recent events in GA and FLA made this abundantly clear.

I was up until now most concerned with Climate Change. Now that I realize the Democrats in Congress are not going to pursue impeachment or actually hold Trump accountable, ensuring our election is secure at the state level is the most pertinent issue.

any legitimate legislation to fix the myriad of problems in these un-united states. Each state runs their elections the way they choose. I think it's up to the people to demand that their state count their votes. I don't understand why a candidate is responsible for how every state chooses to run it's elections. The problem has been with us for a long time now, and many states have made the changes necessary to provide accurate secure elections. And then there are those that do not. Same old, same old

they're candidates, not officials.

And then, election fraud has been with us since Washington was elected. Never heard of ballot stuffing? Entire ballot boxes disappearing? Gerrymandering? Voting machines dumped in the Chicago River? Cash for votes?

Fact is, we do it to ourselves better than any Russians could.

Nobody likes fraudulent elections, especially when they lose. But, silly as it sounds, it is just possible that the frauds on both sides will balance out. So far, it has, over time. Anyway, we have made quite a bit of progress in reducing the fraud, we just have a way to go.

FWIW, when Nixon lost to Kennedy, he wanted to go after the Chicago Democratic machine for the well publicized vote tampering. He shut up when he was reminded that would lead to exposing the Republican shenanigans around Cairo.
