Per this morning's Washington Post:

"The former vice presidents standing hasnt ebbed as some liberals hoped, so he and other moderates are now targeted in a fight for Democratic Party control."

(2,113 posts)Although I really don't like the way Biden is being pushed like he is the best chance to beat Trump (which I disagree with), have disagreed with him on some things and believe there are some valid topics he can be criticized about I think a lot of the stuff hurled at him is complete and utter BS.
His memes with Obama are legendary, too.

Disagreement on issues is one thing, disrespect is something totally different and unnecessary.

it is BS but it is a fact of life in the Dem. primaries.
I like Beto and am not happy with the attacks coming his way either.

(15,651 posts)If there was a centrist surge, then Gillibrand, Booker and Hickenlooper would be in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place behind Biden.
Biden is in first place not due to centrist policies (what are his policies anyway?), but because of name recognition only. Things will shift significantly in a month after the first debates, and even moreso by the September debates.
By the time the first votes are cast, Biden will likely be the only centrist (unless you consider Harris a centrist) left running.

(25,473 posts)Sanders' name recognition is nearly 100% and Warren's is around 90%.
The "name recognition only" argument is nonsense.

The attacks from the far left will backfire and make more true Democrats support Biden and/or whoever wins the nomination.
