This is disappointing

I will not compromise on the physical autonomy and right to choice for all women. This has to matter or nothing matters.

From NARAL:

There’s NO political or ideological excuse for @JoeBiden’s support for the Hyde Amendment, which translates into discrimination against poor women and women of color plain and simple. His position further endangers people already facing enormous hurdles. https://t.co/3jDleIq077

1. Beyond disappointed. Honestly, I'm wondering what he was thinking in the clip from the ACLU member.

This is not a niche policy. It's a major barrier for people who want abortions. Why the different answers? Why does he support it?

Old white guys aren't going to flip. 2020 will be another base election. If our people vote, we win. Period. All this does is alienate solid Democrats.

Would it be okay with you if he were an "old black guy" and supported the Hyde Amendment?

And while I have no issue with a discussion on age, what in particular does anyone's age have to do with this issue? Are you saying that "old white guys" think this way? Did the "old white guy" Bernie Sanders not get the memo, so he doesn't know he should agree with Biden on this issue?

mentioned was in reference to people that voted for Chump in 2016, and Biden believes they can be brought back to our side in 2020 with a genuine down-the-middle strategy.

For the record, I'm a white male of age 50+, and was not offended by the reference to Trump cultist voters, as I'm certainly not part of that group, but realize that many in my demographic fall into that segment.

I thought he was referring to Biden as the "old white guys." For the record, though...most "old white guys" are Republican, to begin with. Many Democratic white workers who voted for Trump were not what I'd call old. They are middle class blue collar, anywhere from 30 to 50, mainly. Not old.

Yeah, they probably can be enticed to vote Democratic in 2020, if they are Democrats or even Independents. We need the rust belt, apparently. Among other areas and other demographics.

Biden does seem to have an "in" with that demographic and geographic area. I don't know if he has the other demographics, though.

Regardless agism and sexism should have no place in our party or DU.

10. I understand and agree with your concerns, but...

I keep thinking about these words from Obama.

“One of the things I do worry about sometimes among progressives in the United States ... is a certain kind of rigidity where we say, ‘I’m sorry, this is how it’s going to be,’ and then we start sometimes creating what’s called a circular firing squad where you start shooting at your allies because one of them is straying from purity on the issues, and when that happens, typically the overall effort and movement weakens.”

Overall, Biden, like all of our candidates have been far from perfect, but a force for good nonetheless.

Sorry. You will get no traction from me.

The Hyde amendment disproportionately impacts poor women.

Rich women will not be impacted by these laws. Poor women will be devastated.

Everyone has to draw a line somewhere. Everyone. This is mine.
I will no longer tolerate half measures or compromise on bodily autonomy and choice with respect to reproductive healthcare.

If Biden relents and agrees to fight for repeal of the Hyde amendment than I will recant.

I stand with NARAL and PP in their statements. He will likely not get their endorsement unless he changes his mind.

Just minutes after NPR posted it (at least when I saw it at the top of my Twitter feed).

It's not from a far left source. It's from NPR. Its speaking specifically to current public statements by both NARAL and Planned Parenthood specifically on Biden's current public policy position on the Hyde amendment.

Your response does not address the actual issue, just the legitimate criticism of a stated public policy position that is in opposition to every other major Democratic Party candidate.
