Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
De Blasio, Gillibrand meet critical threshold for primary debate according to POLITICO analysis
PoliticoNEW YORK CITY The presidential campaigns of Mayor Bill de Blasio and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand got a welcome booster shot this week, with new polling data that suggests they will both qualify for the first Democratic primary debate.
According to a POLITICO analysis, de Blasio and Gilibrand have reached the threshold set by the Democratic National Committee to qualify for the June 26 and 27 debates.
The DNC declined to comment, as it has done in the past, on the qualifications for any individual candidate. POLITICOs analysis for who has (and has not) qualified for the debate is based off public polling and public comments from the campaigns about their donor counts.
In order to be eligible for the debates, candidates must cross one of two thresholds: earning 1 percent in three polls approved by the Democratic National Committee, or receiving donations from 65,000 people, with 200 in 20 different states. A bakers dozen have met both thresholds and have clinched their spots. But there are at least 10 credible candidates bidding for the final 7 spots a list that includes two sitting senators, three congressmen, a governor, a former governor and the mayor of New York City.

worth hearing, though I am not a supporter...

(89,250 posts)3. how does deblasio make it but not Bullock
maybe it's the high population in nyc where even a small percentage of the city is still far higher in numbers than all of Montana.
i would like to see Bullock up there even . i might donate a small amount to him as i did some others just to help them get up there.

(12,165 posts)5. It's interesting to see Gillibrand and De Blasio getting some traction
I wonder why? I rarely see them in the media, but I don't have cable.
Gillibrand had a favorable 60 Minutes story a few weeks ago. I'm sure that helped her. De Blasio is a mystery.
