Harris stresses background as prosecutor in taking on Trump

BY OWEN DAUGHERTY - 06/09/19 07:44 AM EDT

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) during a speech Saturday night at an NAACP gathering in South Carolina stressed her work as a prosecutor as a key qualification for challenging President Trump.

The 2020 White House hopeful also touted her experience as California attorney general and said Trump needs to be held "accountable."

“We’ve got to hold this guy accountable by prosecuting the case in front of the American people against four more years of this administration,” she said Saturday, according to a transcript her campaign released. “And I’ve prosecuted a lot of cases. But rarely one with this much evidence.” She used Trump as an example for the need for a criminal justice system in which “no one is above the law.”

“We’ve got a president of the United States, a man who took an oath to defend the Constitution, who violates that sworn promise,” Harris said.

She can go head to head with him, take on his narcissistic BS, confront him on his lies, and she can take whatever he throws at her, not fold. I think she can do better taking him on one to one than most of the other candidates. She has what it takes to go all the way!

I would love to see that happen. She will not back down nor mince words. That's once of the reasons why I strongly support her.

And while she can be tough, she's also inspirational and moves people. She was amazing in person in Atlanta.

She has the whole package, and I really do think trumps is afraid of here more than the others running. I am sure he watched her take down Barr, and I am sure he has watched her in action at other hearings where she showed that she does not back down.

Agreed on Trump being more afraid of her more than any other candidates. He continuously provokes other candidates but is rather tight lipped on her aside from saying she had a nasty wit when she demolished Barr. He knows she would take his lunch money.
