7. Andrew Yang is the only candidate with the guts to suggest a sales tax.

One option that will raise REAL money, unlike most of the others, which wont come anywhere NEAR what is needed.

I back Biden because he has th best chance to win, IMO. But Yang has a few good ideas and actual realistic ways to PAY for them

9. Sales taxes are regressive - lower SES people pay a greater

amount of their salary in sales tax because just about all of their salary goes to buying stuff - food, clothes, etc. People with higher incomes don’t pay as large a proportion of their income in sales tax.

I like Buttigieg’s idea of taxing financial transactions - stock market sales - that would be more fair in terms of well off paying more in taxes.

Most states exempt food and some exempt personal care products like soap and toothpaste. I really think that applying a sales tax even on certain classes of food items is a good idea and not regressive, for example, higher cuts of steak, crab, certain prepared food and lobster should face a sales tax all the time.

13. Well, it works in Europe & other countries. They have the programs many here want.

Their programs generally work because EVERYONE pays in other countries. A large part of our budget comes from income taxes. And a huge part of the work force pays ZERO in taxes. A HUGE amount of money goes untaxed because its not on a W2 or a 1099.
Nothing is fair to everyone. We have to do whats needed. A sales tax is a HUGE part of whats needed. Or we can keep pushing "feel good" taxes that dont raise nearly enough money, and just keep increasing our debt regardless of WHO is in office.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
