The alleged "statement from the Biden campaign" that Chris Matthews raised such a stink about

tonight was actually an off-the-cuff tweet from a Biden advisor, apparently tweeted during the debate.

See this thread about the kerfuffle:

Whoops, that was the last of the three tweets in that thread from a Politico reporter. First tweet in the thread is here:

Anyway, I don't like what Biden advisor Cristobal Alex tweeted here

but there's a huge difference between a spontaneous tweet from one advisor and an actual campaign staff statement.

And FWIW, Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale, was gleefully tweeting about Harris's attack on Biden. And he was doing so just a minute or so before Cristobal Alex's tweet.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

The point is that this was NOT a campaign statement, not something from Joe Biden.

But I'm seeing people here and on Twitter suggesting this was Biden's response, and that's a nasty smear.

campaign statements and statements coming from Twitter accounts identified with the title of "Sr. Advisor to Joe Biden."

If he wanted to make a personal, off-the-cuff statement, he should have put it on a personal, non-campaign related account -- not an account labeled with his job title that is FULL of political and Biden related tweets.

Biden's the one who should be complaining to his staffer, not me. It isn't something that hurts me -- it hurts Biden.

What was said, do they now not speak for the Campaign....

Maybe Symone and the Biden Campaign need to figure that out FIRST...

Symone's Response:

(But they did tho via the Other Senior campaign Advisor):

And there's this:

Until a Campaign Staffer "took that back" too a bit (kind of):

In the end, Biden's lack of Debate Prep showed in the #DemDebate2. He looked tired, he stumbled over some words, said the straight comment about the NRA that not being our enemy -- "Our enemy is the gun manufacturers, not the NRA," said Joe Biden -- and generally had a bad night.

That's just the way it is. Maybe he can get better, but it better happen fast (and his Campaign Staff might do well to talk to each other BEFORE they Tweet).
