Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumObvious question for Kamala Harris after debate.
Kamala Harris has opened herself up to an OBVIOUS question with her impassioned apparent defense of busing to achieve school desegregation.
Senator Harris, as you know Americans schools are even more segregated than they once were, not as a matter of government policy, but as a consequence of residential segregation and also as a consequence of the proliferation of private schools in many localities. In light of that, and in light of your impassioned defense of busing programs of the 70's and 80's, would you support busing now to achieve racial integration of our schools? If not, why not?

drew boundary lines to segregate schools, didnt build schools in locations that would draw diverse students, better off white parents put their kids in private schools, and more, such that busing was about the only mechanism to use to improve society as a whole?
Focusing on busing, ignores the real issues.
Finally, had Biden not mentioned segregationists when he was trying to say he can work with anyone to get things done, this would not have come up.
Thanks to Harris and Booker, I now realize it was more than just that incident. Biden worked with segregationists for questionable purposes, maintaining separate, but unequal, schools.

This doesnt make a lot of sense.
