Democratic Senators Surprisingly Open to Sanders

Democratic Senators Surprisingly Open to Sanders
March 10, 2019 at 9:09 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Politico: “Senate Democrats say they’re increasingly open to getting behind Bernie Sanders if he appears the strongest candidate a year from now. And there’s no whiff of an effort to try and deny him the nomination, according to interviews with more than 20 Democratic senators.”

“It’s not that the Democratic Caucus is rallying behind him; most of them would prefer a more mainstream nominee, even if they’re unwilling to say it at this point. But they’re giving Sanders props for what he’s accomplished, and say if he’s able to win the nomination, more power to him.”
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I see it as quiet acceptance of his run. They aren't trashing their own (or those that caucus with us) since they are fully aware that to much is at stake in this election. Democrats know that all Americans will lose dearly if we don't take the WH in 2020. Democrats are in it for all of Americans. I hope that every candidate follow their lead and not allow attacks in their campaign, that includes their supporters. We cannot lose this election. Our lives are at stake.

does not allow any force to separate us. There is so much of the population that is already agreeing to certain changes that need to be made and so many Democrats running that concur, it just makes sense that our side will win. They may say 80% of Republicans are for tRump. Well, 80% of WHAT. I'd sure like to know the total---especially compared to our total. I'd bet our numbers are higher.

If all Dems vote "D" & all republicans vote "R", wherever the "Independent" vote goes decides the election. And whether we like it or not, the largest voting group by far label themselves Independents. The last report i saw was as of 2017, and it was over 40%.

I agree with you that more of the country wants changes that are being proposed. But i worry that some will want to push too far and that may turn "I"s away. They may or may not vote for trump again, but they may not vote at all either. Not a popular opinion on DU, but thats how i see it being around many who are in that group.

In MA there are more people registered unenrolled than either major party - it's been a long time since MA voters chose a Repub for President.

Top Sanders Aide Defends DNC Chair in Wikileaks Controversy

Tad Devine, who served as the top strategist on Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, came the defense of Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile Tuesday after hacked emails showed what some read as improper coordination between Brazile and the Clinton campaign.

Brazile said the question in the email was for a normal upcoming appearance on CNN and said she would regularly contact both campaigns for guidance.

"Yes that is absolutely true,”Devine said of Brazile’s account of the matter in an email to NBC News. "She would get in touch all the time for guidance, so I can verify her recollection on this issue."

The email, allegedly stolen from Clinton Campaign chair John Podesta’s personal account and posted WikiLeaks, showed Brazile communicating with a Clinton aide about a question CNN planned to ask her. Brazile was a paid CNN contributor, and many observers assumed the question was one CNN planned to ask Clinton in a joint town hall with Sanders and Clinton.

That would have been improper since Brazile was also the co-chair of the DNC and thus supposed to remain neutral. But both Brazile and CNN denied that she even had access to the town hall questions, let alone leaked them to the Clinton campaign. Devine agreed.

"I don't think she gave anybody the questions,” he [Tad Devine] said. "I was in touch with her all the time."

The Clinton campaign has refused to authenticate the emails

I for one, refuse to believe that the majority are so callous and full of such resentment and irrational hatred of Sanders that "nothing he does is good enough" Which is what you doubled down on.

In my opinion, most here are good enough to recognize the Sanders has been much more good than bad to the Democratic party. That he has stood shoulder to shoulder with them through tough times. That he as been important in pushing forward policies like he did with the woman you are endorsing, Kamala Harris, with Medicare-For-All.

Perhaps "the majority" would like him to join the Democratic party permanently. Perhaps the majority would wish he'd never use the word "socialism". I could agree with those projections. Some can't get over that he's the Sneech without a Star. But that is a far cry from thinking nothing he does is worthwhile. No, you my friend are in a minority. The only reason the most hateful, can-do-nothing-right OPs and posts are noticed is because they are so vile and noticeable, not because a majority are still wallowing in resentment and vindictiveness and will never forgive him for daring to even get close to toppling their first choice. No, the same few names always pop up. I can count them on one hand.

He says he will also submit his full tax records. I only have a problem with irrational divisive hatred of one of our most productive and popular and important allies. And ridiculous claims that the majority of DUers are clouded in that same haze of hatred as a loud MINORITY. Too bad you can't accept Sanders the way that Harris and other Democrats do.

I am undecided. I am leaning towards Harris though, because although I feel Sanders would have won the general last time, and saved us from Trump, and might again, it is time for new blood, IMO. We can win with new blood. The public is almost crying out for it. And one of the major reasons I lean towards Harris is precisely because she respects and is not hesitant of praising and working with Sanders, and pushing his more progressive policies.

But as all the nominees start really campaigning and we get to see more fully fleshed out ideas on their websites and listen to them in the debates . . . anything can happen and my support can possibly switch.

For now - it's just great to me that I see so many candidates with thoughtful ideas and so many who support what attracted to me about Bernie in the first place. As long as I don't pay that much attention to the noise -- I'm enjoying the primary season!

Bernie: ‘My Opponents’ Want Black, White, Gay, Latino or Women Candidates ‘Regardless of What They Stand For’

After the 2016 election, Sanders hit a similar theme when he told a crowd of supporters “It’s not good enough for somebody to say ‘hey I’m a Latina vote for me’ that is not good enough,” and went on to add “It is not good enough for somebody to say, ‘I’m a woman, vote for me.'”

Well, except for Merkley. I did note in the article that Sanders lone Senate endorsement from 2016 isn’t ready to commit yet.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), however, is not ready to endorse anyone after being Sanders' lone Senate supporter in 2016.

25. Why do all the articles about BS consistently misrepresent what the source article

actually said? This is political wire misrepresenting a politico story that misrepresented what the source Senate Democrats said.

This is why no one trusts the Bernie Bros. Dig into their statements, and they are always misrepresenting what people actually say.

And ability to win is a consideration for sure, along with political agreement. I think that applies to all the candidates.
