Caught a bit of Inslee being interviewed on my way in to my weekend gig. Struck me as a man of considerable candidate skills.

(108,990 posts)As he puts it, he and his wife raised "three feral boys" out there.
And he managed to get himself re-elected Gov in 2016 by 54-46, even though the R's kept one of the houses in the legislature.

I walked into a Spanish class in 1966, on the first day of Ingraham High School. This girl sitting in the first row had a beautiful white blouse and beautiful hair. And Ive been married to her for 46 years.
We raised three feral boys in the sagebrush of Selahnorthern Yakima. And now Ive got three grandkids.
Also, from Wikipedia:
He served in the Washington House of Representatives from 1989 to 1993. In 1992, Inslee was elected to represent Washington's 4th congressional district, based around Central Washington, in the United States House of Representatives.

The local facebook groups and media message boards draw them out like roaches every time he breathes...I can see how his entering the race is provoking a bit of anxiety and fear. He's my Governor and have liked him quite a bit but his entering the national stage has me becoming more impressed and excited about his campaign.

(81,417 posts)I already had a favorable view of him. But I didnt realize HOW favorable an opinion I could have. As one for whom the climate crisis is Priority One, I freakin love the guy! My itty bitty granddaughter is just two months old. I am fearful for the world she and all the littles ones now she will inherit.
Inslee/Harris for me. Or Harris/Inslee. But I NEED to hear the candidates thoughts and positions on the climate crisis. Inslee understands the long-range ramifications of climate crisis - just how horrible itll be all over the world. Those who hate the whole immigration thing, and want all those other people kept out - have they stopped to think about how millions across the globe are going to respond to expanding land masses that can no longer support life? That have been turned to desert? Where theres no water? Where theres no vegetation? Where the entire food chain that we sit on top of is disrupted?
This is increasingly the kind of thing that keeps me up at night.

(9,186 posts)"...Eventually Inslee co-authored Apollo's Fire, in which he says that through improved Federal policies the United States can wean itself off of its dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuel, create millions of Green-collar worker jobs, and stop global warming..."
He is down to earth. I am a bit biased since he came from my area of central Washington (Yakima Valley) AND he attended my son's wedding...Just saying!

(9,696 posts)to bad they're both West coast, a Harris/Inslee ticket would be a winner for me.
Having a climate change dedicated VP seems appropriate for these times.

I like this Inslee a lot. Been following him for years after I first heard he was one of the leading experts in the US House on the environment.

(6,831 posts)I'm glad the rest of the country is learning about him right now.
He has been a great governor, picking up where Christine Gregoire left off. He has some very good ideas, with sound science behind them. He's also accessible in a way that many politicians are not. If you write him, you get an honest, genuine reply, not some formatted blather that fails to address your letter. You can tell by the response that he has actually considered your issue.
Even if he isn't the nominee, I appreciate that he has raised the profile of climate change to the national stage in a way that no one else has been able to do. He correctly refers to it as an issue of national security.
