Steyer (founder of Need to Impeach) throws his hat into the presidential ring.

Adms please add him to the candidate list.

I don't think there's anyway he can win, but he will definitely bring the issue of impeachment and Chump's many crimes into focus.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/billionaire-tom-steyer-announces-he-is-running-for-president

WASHINGTON (AP) — Tom Steyer, the billionaire investor and activist, said Tuesday he’s joining the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, reversing course after deciding earlier this year that he would forgo a run.

Steyer, 62, is one of the most visible and deep-pocketed liberals advocating for President Donald Trump’s impeachment. He surprised many Democrats in January when he traveled to Iowa, home to the nation’s first presidential caucus, to declare that he would focus entirely on the impeachment effort instead of seeking the White House.

Since then, Steyer, of California, has said he’s grown frustrated at the pace at which the Democratic-controlled House is approaching Trump. Roughly half of the Democratic presidential contenders, seeking to appeal to the party’s progressive base, have called on House Democrats to start an impeachment inquiry. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi has resisted, warning that Democrats need to collect the facts and that a rush to impeachment could ultimately help Trump politically.

Big ifs, but IF the nominee is

Warren (possible she is the nominee)

Bernie (will never happen, the DNC and the super delegates will block him if the convention goes to multiple ballots, which in itself is problematic IF Bernie goes full victim card and a large chunk of his voters bolt to a 3rd party or refuse to vote for POTUS or even vote for Rump out of spite)

and possibly Harris (I think she would seem less threatening to either one, perhaps Schultz still might do it)

Then maybe one or both run as 3rd party candidates (Schultz will almost for sure run if it is Warren or Bernie)

Even 3% or 4% draw-off would be potentially devastating in the general, although they may draw a tonne of Never Trumper Rethugs and centre-right indy-types too, so hopefully would be a wash.

be wary of. There is a misconception that Trump is so hated that anyone can sail through the General and beat him.

But Schultz has already put everyone on notice that, if the nominee is not Biden, he will run as a third party - I believe him. This will inevitably make the path to beat Trump even more challenging for the other candidates…

https://www.businessinsider.com/howard-schultz-2020-campaign-and-joe-biden-2019-5

Snip...

Schultz is expected not to run in the election if Biden maintains his moderate views and becomes the Democratic nominee, the sources added, according to the report. Schultz was expected to announce in the summer, but that could be delayed until 2020.

The torture Trump is administering on the border; also, the record of no accomplishment of any of his promises; also his sucking up and cowering to dictators (like Helsinki); his government shutdown, and his pu**y grabbing tape. All his lies need to be played back over and over and over. Battleground state voters need to be reminded constantly that Trump didn't build a wall, didn't make health care affordable, didn't bring back jobs, made trade worse not better, didn't lower THEIR taxes, and is increasing deficit. Those ads cost a lot of money and we need billionaires like Steyer to step up with the money for them. Never have we had a Republican opponent with such a horrible record that we can hang around his neck and his down ballot.

And not just here at DU. I feel a little silly going against that sentiment. But I loved his launch message. I wonder if he is someone who could address income inequality without freaking out the corporate sector and without triggering 3rd party candidates. Plus he’s concerned about the climate crisis. I have found myself responding positively in the past when I’ve heard him talk. Of course the devil is in the details. There is something disgusting about a billionaire running, but maybe it takes fire to fight fire. That’s basically what FDR was. But the devil is in the details. I will be watching.
