Donors love Pete Buttigieg. Voters aren't sure.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is raising cash for the Democratic primary season at a clip expected of a front-runner, but his poll numbers are exposing a rift between donors and voters.

As second-quarter fundraising numbers continue to trickle in, the $24.8 million haul Buttigieg's campaign announced last week looks even more impressive, outpacing a former vice president and several United States senators.

The Midwestern mayor, though, hasn't been keeping up in polling. A CNN/SSRS poll conducted June 28-30, just after the June debates, showed him in a distant fifth place among voters, at 4 percent. And that's not an outlier. Other polls taken after the debates show similar results.

Even worse news for his campaign, the CNN poll shows his support among African American voters, which had been ticking upward in some quarters, is back near 0 percent in the aftermath of the June 16 South Bend police shooting, when a white officer shot a black man.

he'll have some warchest for it. He'd be ideally suited for that.

College educated-nope
Makes over 100,000 a year-nope
Gay or other identity- nope

Just prefer the smartest person in all professions. ( yes subjective, but aren't we all?)

However, not religious nor homophobic- finally a check.

We are seeing people with experience in war come home and take an interest in saving this place. I love Pete. Smart but wise. Thinks before he speaks. He’s a man but that won’t stop me from voting for him!😂

He doesn't have anywhere to go as far as statewide office in Indiana for the foreseeable future. His best bet to get out of Indiana is either a VP spot or a job in the next Democratic Administration.

ends this year. And at this point, I doubt he'll drop his presidential bid to try to get re-elected.

My dream ticket is Biden/Buttigieg, but it's too white and too male to win.

I think either could win, although Biden/Buttigieg might have an easier time. The hurdle is winning the nomination.
