Really really sad to see him do this. Castro is one of my favorites but this actually lacks ethics.

Sad to know Biden wants to keep it criminal, as well.

"You have to have borders and laws"

Which Democrat running doesn't think we should have borders and laws? You literally just reworded "open borders" to tell a tale that doesn't exist in reality.

In fact shortly after Castro's comments at the debate, we had a really good post by a DU member, grantcart. You can read it here:

"You have to have borders and laws"

That is a variation of their "open border" nonsense. None of our candidates are fighting for removing borders.

The post you link does no negate that.

You might think we have a candidate promoting what was stated above. I know we don't.

Castro wants to decriminalize crossing the border ...get rid of statue 1325...It is a bad idea for our chances on winning the 2020 election...we could lose the house as well. The article below is from former Obama folks and it details the risks for us. Please note it is published in the hill- so stop with the right wing talking points crap. We don't accuse other DU'ers of being right wing or mouthing right wing talking points which this clearly is not. The GOP will use this issue to destroy us in the general. It would be a damn shame if the left snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and gave Trump another four years to destroy this country.

...Former Obama administration officials are warning Democratic presidential candidates to back off from their proposals to decriminalize border crossings, saying that it’s bad policy and a surefire general election loser that gives President Trump an opening on immigration.

'...In an op-ed in The Washington Post this week, former Obama Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said that decriminalization would attract hundreds of thousands of new migrants to the southern border. He described the proposal as “tantamount to declaring declaring publicly that we have open borders.”

'...But the former Obama officials worried that the debate over decriminalization, which has low support in the polls, will level the playing field on an issue where Democrats should have the political high ground...'

...,The Trump campaign’s war room has been blasting out emails hitting the Democrats for supporting “open borders” and cycling footage of the candidates raising their hands on the question of decriminalization through its Twitter feed.

"In the debate, Castro interrupted O’Rourke to speak about a provision of federal law that makes it illegal for undocumented persons to enter the country. O’Rourke tried to give a longer, nuanced answer about comprehensive immigration reform, but Castro talked over him to make him look like an immigration bully, which is absurd.

That kind of fake attack is exactly what I would expect from a guy who folded when it was real. The idea being ballyhooed all over the news media, that Castro is a stud because he talked over O’Rourke, is something I would expect from Facebook, not the news media."
