of Social Security and Medicare to protect their trust funds since they are both scheduled to have reduced benefits within the next two decades. Beto's team must have seen my post because here they are addressing it with a plan.

Hopefully the media will actually report on it. I won't hold my breath because this is the 8th major Plan he's rolled out that have been mostly ignored despite how genuinely GOOD they are.

Beto’s plan would create a Caregiving Credit to Social Security, building on legislation introduced in the House and Senate by Representative Nita Lowey and Senator Chris Murphy. Americans engaged in caring for a child under 12 or a family member of any age who needs help performing daily activities would receive a credit equal to 50 percent of the average earnings of a full-time, year-round worker under his plan. Americans could collect Caregiving Credits for five years, and these credits would help reduce gender and racial gaps in Social Security benefits. Family caregivers of veterans who receive a stipend through the Family Caregiver Program would also be eligible for credits.

Because they like to come on every thread I start and post things that are obviously made to try to get a negative reaction.
I love Beto's Plan!

He's offering a caregiver credit for people who leave the workforce to care for a child. This applies to men as well as women, but women and minorities are more likely to quit work to be a caregiver, so they are more likely to be the ones who lose out in the first place.

...I don't believe there's been an increase in Social Security benefits in well over a generation...and with today's fake COLA numbers, we've actually lost income...

...bless Mr. O'Rourke...

He was incredible...and was extremely well received. He got a lot of applause and a standing ovation at the end. He spoke about "James" a man he met earlier today while he went out with one of his Iowa organizers knocking on doors. When no one answered he left a personal written note with literature. He stayed and spoke with James for quite awhile. He recently discovered he has Pancreatic cancer and had to quit his job so he could go on medicaid and get treatment. His employer would not give him time off to go to the doctor. He is living in a camper at a friends' home and making wooden art. Beto asked to buy some of his woodwork.
