Poll Shows Biden Leading Field With 25% Support: Campaign Update

Former Vice President Joe Biden had a solid lead in the Democratic presidential primary race, followed by Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, according to an NBC News/SurveyMonkey national online poll released Friday.

Biden had 25% support among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, the survey showed. Sanders and Warren were tied at 16% and Harris at 14%.

Although web-based surveys aren’t considered as reliable as polls conducted by telephone, the results are roughly in line with an aggregation of polls produced by RealClearPolitics. The NBC News|SurveyMonkey poll was conducted online July 2-16 with a national sample of 13,553 registered voters.

The older and less educated you are the more likely you are to vote for Biden.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between men and women. Though the women's vote does improve slightly for other candidates.

Interesting stats. It is cutting into Trump's base. But wont rally the more liberal base. He really needs a good liberal VP to get people out to vote.

Those are the stats at the link. I merely reiterated them.

I didn't mean to be insulting. Those are hard statistics to put in a nicer way. I just gave up and called them as they were. But honestly, I' m not necessarily believing them because most polls try to compensate for the blue shift. And they tend to gives us more of what RepubliCON think then what all Americans think.

How is wanting Biden to have a very liberal VP condescending? He's centrist. He admits it. He does not believe he's farther to the left than other candidates. Good forbid we get more conservative with someone like Joe Lieberman

If he wants those liberals who stayed home or didn't vote Democratic in the last presedential election, to vote for him, he needs some more liberal credentials. Those voters are not sorry for what they did. In fact some of them are doubling down on the stupid. It's not about Biden. It's about winning.

If we can win without their votes.....as many people down post think....then there is no problem. We are cutting into Trumps base....at least the non racist ones....and that may be enough.

I believe there are more moderates especially with the AA voters who tend towards conservative than liberals...and the midterms show clearly that we need to win with moderates...they gave us the house. I still think it was a snarky comment...just do.

than moderates and conservatives. Consistently across election cycles.

Check the Roper Center exit polling data.

Liberals don't deserve all the hectoring they get for not voting for the nominee. Save this message for your conservative and moderate friends who are more likely to jump ship and vote Republican on election day.

The real problem isn't liberals not voting for the nominee, it's white people voting Republican. That gets discussed far less than it's relevance to election results.

FDR was a centrist and so were Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. All were progressive but not out there in the socialism territory.

On the other hand, we have lots of "more liberal" candidates who lost - McGovern, Dukakis, Mondale.

The "more liberal" people should understand that "the revolution" ain't happening. They should take a centrist-progressive candidate or suffer Trump like they chose the last time.

they are in effect voting for Trump... and their own destruction...they want liberal candidate than quit primarying Democratic seats and go out in the purple and red areas and win over the voters...you don't get power because you demand it or else...you get out there and win hearts and minds. They need to do the heavy lifting so they bring something to the table other than rhetoric...moderates gifted us the house in 2018...

23. You know what's really a vote for Trump?
Mon Jul 22, 2019, 03:19 PM

A vote for Trump. This happens with much more frequency among moderates and conservatives than liberals.

White people need to stop voting Republicans in majorities every election. This is the real problem, but it's not being addressed or addressed with any conviction. Instead, it's hectoring liberals when they make up a big swath of the party's volunteers, contributors and voters too. But instead, we get scolded when we prefer candidates that represent our values best. No matter how many times moderates run a meh campaign and lose, it's always the fault of liberals.

Biden has to win the nomination before he's electible. He should be glad that Sanders is in the race and splitting the liberal vote, helping him really to stay in front. Sanders draws support from Harris in the South and from Warren everywhere else. But between the three of them, they energize the liberal base and help turnout in the primaries and voter registration in the general.

Bad data assumptions were an untold part of the story in the 2016 loss. Whoever the candidate is, a current view of the Democratic electorate is needed. Even the lessons of 2018 need closer review - again, no credit is given by you to any liberal candidate in that cycle. So we're just a burden on the party and make no contributions to the wins? Our money given to the DNC, our local and state wins, or volunteer hours and lobbying count for less?

On DU, Black and liberal voters are the most taken for granted constituents of the Democratic Party. We are either someone's black firewall or left wing outliers who want ponies and tank elections. At least in my experience the state party is more savvy than that, or we'd be extremely challenged to expand turnout, which must be done in 2020.
