Biden on Barr's announcement that the federal government will resume capital pumishment

Since 1973, over 160 individuals in this country have been sentenced to death and were later exonerated. Because we can’t ensure that we get these cases right every time, we must eliminate the death penalty.

In lieu of that, I think the death penalty should only come into play in cases such as mass shootings or massacres with random targets (like Charlottesville) where there are numerous victims and witnesses, and/or actual video or security footage of the incident and there is absolutely no question who the perpetrator is.

How about we solve that before we start executing other prisoners who aren't going anywhere.

Treason has always been a capital crime.

(BTW, has anyone told Trump that one of prisoners on his list is a white supremacist? Look for that sentence to be commuted - unless Trump thinks killing this guy will make people think he's not a racist.)

add with something that will make the evening news or the front page, such as 'some people just really want to kill other people and I don't understand that. I think we've seen over and over that this administration embraces sick cruelty for cruelty's sake. That ain't me.'

A finely crafted thoughtful statement needs to be enhanced and amplified with some deserved rudeness, these days. otherwise the front page is covered by a trump barf of some kind.

Can't support it anymore.

that DNA evidence has cleared people convicted based on lesser evidence and/or testimony. But what about the situations where DNA has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the accused did commit the crime? It's a two-edged sword, you know. We have only begun to use DNA evidence to solve cold cases with great certainty that could not be figured out with conventional evidence techniques.
