... The poll found that 39 percent of registered voters supported Trump in his re-election bid when he was being challenged by Sanders, Harris or Warren. But the three liberal senators had more support. The survey found Sanders winning over Trump with 48 percent, Harris winning over Trump with 46 percent and Warren winning over Trump with 45 percent.
But it was the former vice president who would beat Trump by the widest margin in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, according to the poll. Biden had 50 percent support among registered voters surveyed, compared to Trump's 38 percent.
The poll also found that just 42 percent of voters viewed Trump favorably, while 56 percent held an unfavorable opinion. The survey contacted just over 1,000 voters and was conducted from August 11 to August 13. The margin of error was 3 percent for all registered voters ...

(945 posts)...and get surprised by the toll voter suppression takes on elections when we lose.
I'm wondering if we do nothing because it means that DEMS (including the Black and Brown ones) would have to actually go into Black and Brown neighborhoods to register and mobilize voters.

(945 posts)That's the only way the voter suppression laws are going to be fought in swing states and red states. I don't see a major push by DEMS to do it, though.
HRC was winning in the polls, but DEMS and the media conveniently ignored the voters suppression impact.

(22,582 posts)Too bad that some of those extra millions of Clinton votes in California couldn't have been applied to her totals in Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania. Then she would have won an electoral victory, which is how we elect our presidents.

(28,819 posts)There have been tons of threads on Du discussing who is doing what where.
Both private and public citizens alike.
I can only speak for my self, but just what are suggesting as to why nobody would canvas or get out the vote in any neighborhood including Black and Brown ones?
Also curious as to why you would use capital letters to describe Black neighborhoods?

(945 posts)...if I'd been here posting longer? I read this site long before I registered for it. I may have been here longer than you have. I'm confused. You say you're "speaking" for yourself, but then you ask a question. I truly don't understand how I'm supposed to respond.
I'm in a bit of an hurry, but I'll have to suggest you use Google to research "Black" being used in the context of race and not color and why it should be capitalized in certain instances.

(28,819 posts)Because there is no such thing as Black Or Brown neighborhoods.
And I will tell you there is nothing more intimidating than canvassing for Dems orGOTV than in rural Midwest predominantly white areas. But they arent
White neighborhoods by any stretch of the imagination.

(945 posts)...trying to tell people how they are supposed to define themselves? I would imagine you're confused because your approach to the definition of a Black neighborhood seems to be limited.
Look, I am not even trying to get in an argument here. Your issue seems to be with semantics, but you shouldn't take that up with me. Just as polls give us stats about Black voters, they are talking about Black people who often live in Black neighborhoods.
I wasn't even focusing on rural midwest areas because those aren't the areas hardest hit by voter suppression. Oh, and yes, those rural midwest areas are often full of white neighborhoods.

(945 posts)...that we use. I'm part of the neighborhoods. You flat out denied that the neighborhoods exist. I am informing you that that's what we call ourselves (Black people do).

I believe that you are a fellow Wisconsin Democrat, and I would recommend a bit more restraint in how you raise this point. Telling a person of color there's no such thing as a Black neighborhood is a "whitesplain" and should be avoided.
