Are all supporters here of whatever candidate EASILY willing to throw not just

their support but AGGRESSIVELY AND HAPPILY to whoever is the nominee?

I could list my issues with ONE candidate with a D after their name and I could speak extremely passionately why they are my LAST choice, but I wont do that so as not to contribute to the negativity. Well there are 2 with a D this applies to but one of them has zero chance of being nominee so forget that one.

ALSO because if that candidate becomes our nominee, I will want to support in such a manner that you would have thought I was on their team the WHOLE time.

Make sense?

The way we TALK about a person is just as important as whether we vote for them or not because of the opinions of others we can effect.

POSITIVE always, from now on, OK! I dont have to remind anyone of the nonstop negative comments about another nominee, I hope.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I would happily and vigorously vote for Bernie, Warren, Biden------well, hell, all of them but one. It's not going to be an issue; that candidate won't win.

But if that candidate won. I happily and cheerfully admit defeat. I'm lucky----or is it unlucky? -----in that I don't feel responsible for anyone since my spouse died this year. I feel no obligation to continue if Trump--or dummy-----makes the world unlivable. For me, it's like, If this is the world you want, have at it. Bye bye----I don't think that is what will happen. I hope senator Harris wins, but I expect any of our great candidates will win. We will win and win soundly.

But even though you no longer feel responsible for anyone, and even though you feel no obligation to continue if Trump wins and makes the world seem unlivable, there are always people who can benefit from your love and kindness. And always people who will want to show love and kindness to you, and who will benefit from that.

I think we'll win. I am very fortunate to have a very strong support network. I will always have a can do attitude. I'm 52, I've also realized since I was 20 that there are limits to what I want. I've always enjoyed thinking about what those limits are. There are people who are happy, fully-functioning, worthwhile quadriplegics. I don't think that's for me. Of course, if it were to happen I'd give it a shot, but I'd feel no obligation to continue. My husband lost three of his limbs to an allergic reaction. He went into the hospital able-bodied and came out with one hand. The other hand and feet----chop, chop. 1 to 3 % of people given heparin will have this reaction, but the doctors don't have to inform you when they use it. It's considered a "professional consideration".

My husband wanted to live. He WANTED to give it a shot. He was told he'd walk with prostheses. He died anyway. I'm not asking for sympathy. There are lots of people who have had worse happen to them. I KNOW if what happened to my spouse of 22 years happened to me, I'd want to check out. But he wanted to live and I wanted that for him. When we were lying down I told him, "I believe the doctors when they say you will walk again, but if this were it, if the rest of my life was caring for you, I'd be happy just to have your company." I enjoyed him.

There are so many, even those who talk a lot, who live an unexamined life. Socrates said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." Evolution cares only if you pass your genes.

Wed Aug 21, 2019, 11:15 PM

Years ago when I was getting physical therapy for a wrist injury, I met a woman (there for therapy after knee surgery) whose husband had died the year before from massive clotting all over his body, an allergic reaction to heparin he'd been given. I was really worried when my mother was given heparin for surgery when she broke a hip, but there didn't seem to be any alternative. Doctors really need a better drug, or at least a way to do a quick test to find out who might be allergic.

I hadn't heard of anyone requiring amputations after that kind of allergic reaction -- I think I'd just assumed it either caused a fatal allergic reaction or people tolerated the drug -- and I'm amazed at how well both you and your husband dealt with this. He sounds like a real hero, and you were equally heroic in the way you cared for him, and in what you told him, the reassurance you gave him.

Thank God you have a strong support network. But I'm guessing a lot of the people in that network have had lots of support and help from you in the past.

Most Republicans are still our deluded cousins, though. Some of them are total jerks----most of those are in various cults. There's little point in talking to a person out of cult. They have to come out on their own.

I had written a response and the internet ate it. I'll try to be more succinct. There are alternatives to heparin (bivalirudin). I've been too busy trying to settle my husband's estate, feeding the cats, and living to do good research. But in the research that I've done, the studies comparing bivalirudin vs. heparin have mostly involved comparing these blood thinners in primary myocardial infarction (PCI, heart attach) cases. Most of the studies involve comparing these blood thinners where a patient has a blockage in the arteries of the heart. These studies show no benefit or little benefit to using bivalirudin over heparin in PCI. That's not what my husband's issue was. He had a mass on his heart valve which had pieces that were breaking off and causing clots elsewhere. I haven't found any studies of this yet. I can tell you that they treated him with bivalirudin for the heparin reaction.

If I knew this was the best treatment for most people, I would be fine for them sacrificing my husband. His hospital did so much other stuff wrong. I hate to write this, other than some homophobic staff, I think most of the staff were doing the best they could. The reason I hate to admit it is because I have a lawyer on my case. If my lawyers get money, great, good for them. I don't care about money. I don't want this to happen to other people. I KNOW that was my husband's motivation. So, I raise a drink to all of us who are trying to make life better.

That’s real life and I’m not pretending to family and friends.

As far as DU, if candidates and supporters would refrain from public negativity in support of their candidate that makes me personally not like their candidate. But that is never going to happen.

Several of the candidates have done things that are an anathema to me. They have done these things publicly and doubled down on those things over and over.

I will not post negative thoughts on candidates I don’t like. But I will never pretend to be excited for them should any of these are the candidate.

If you are not thrilled with the nominee, and withold your donation, maybe they lose, if they lose the ACTUAL HUMAN RACE is in trouble, not just Americans.

If you are not thrilled with the nominee and in public you make that clear with negative comments, people listening might be on the fence as to vote or not vote at all and said negative comments can and do sometimes push them into the not voting at all slot.

We are up against not just the GOP who always cheat at everything but the god damn Russian KGB, it is called something else now and I refuse to do putin's bidding and call it by it's new name because that is what HE wants me to do.

Food for thought?

The person who is our nominee should have our support both in the general and God willing the presidency...lets not knee cap our president as was done to Clinton and Obama...let's try to win and actually pass progressive legislation.

matched by no other.

However, I will be a part of the blue wave to drown Trump and happily watch his bloated body hit bottom. I will toot the horn for our candidate in contrast to our current dangerously incompetent, anti-American, morally corrupt and criminal president, a threat to democratic values throughout the world.

I've always found the XXXXorBust type talk to be a real head scratcher. I mean, I kinda get what they think will happen, but I don't think they are correct in their assumptions about how things would play out in the long run.

I am also tired of the negativity. I have no problem with the vetting and the exploration of people's past stances/policies, but when doing so we shouldn't be doing it in order to find things to tear them down. Instead it should be about understanding their approach, views, and behavior. Which also means trying to understand why they may have said or did whatever that may be. Something like making sure it's constructive criticism.
