Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI really want to see it come down to Biden and Warren
I'm really hoping that the field will quickly narrow down to Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren. They will be able to have a great ideological debate that would be civil. I am leaning toward Warren right now, but I would whole heartedly support either one of them. More importantly, they are both loyal Democrats who would work together, not only to defeat Trump, but to solve problems beyond the election. Harris is fading, and Bernie is only inviting a repeat of 2016. No one else has really any traction.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(3,492 posts)I just think shell get trounced in a near McGovern style blowout in a general election. And for purely superficial reasons. This country is too stupid to be trusted and this election is too important.
I wish it were otherwise.

(7,277 posts)He had strong support from the base, but was regarded as too extreme to win over the electorate.

(7,277 posts)it is for all intents and purposes a two person race. People assume Sanders supporters will go to Warren. Every poll suggests otherwise. Warren would be better placed if Harris dropped out.

(14,014 posts)Also, can you imagine how frustrated a dynamo like Warren would be in the -fairly impotent- role as VP?
She'd start chewing on her desk!
We need her as head of the Fed, or somewhere, to begin to repair the economy, and reign in Big Money once again.

(14,565 posts)Part of why Biden has such a strong position right now is that Bernie and EW are chopping up one third of the votes right now, with gaggle of Harris, Mayor Pete, Booker et all chopping up the other third.
Bernie and EW are going to hang in fairly deep, so unless Biden falters badly in one of the early primaries, he is going to build a pretty solid bank of delegates before ether Warren or Bernie bow out.

(68,586 posts)that indicate that a woman will face sexism and some will refuse to vote for her period...this election is too important to risk it. This makes me sick...but reality bites sometimes. Besides we don't just pick a woman because she is a woman. MFA will hurt Warren badly and Harris isn't doing well and has not responded to Gabbard's attacks...which has hurt her.

(279 posts)By repeating the idea that some will refuse to vote for her because shes a woman, youre floating it as legitimate. Obama won. Clinton probably won if interference factor is accounted for. Warren can win. She is a far stronger candidate than Biden.
