I'm from GA. Stacey's big here; my husband and I voted happily for her and believe she was the true choice of a majority of people here.

But she's not governor and imo would be a dangerously "light" candidate for the vice presidency.

To the point that I suspect some are not as honestly enthusiastic as you but have less admirable reasons for trying to link Biden to a woman whose experience is limited to some years as a minority member of the lower house of the GA state assembly.

Not going to happen. Not unless Biden's own enthusiasm for her personally outweighs her lack of other qualifications and experience. My guess is it'd be more likely to be expressed in a significant appointment.

Politico: Biden said it’s important to choose a No. 2 who reflects the nation’s growing diversity, indicating he would choose a running mate who is either a woman or person of color, if not both.

“But I’m not making that commitment until I know the person I’m dealing with, I can completely, thoroughly trust, is authentic and is on the same page,” he said.

Biden said that the presidency “is too big for any one person,” insisting a president needs a vice president he or she can trust to offload big tasks. He recalled the trust former President Barack Obama had in selecting him as his running mate in 2008. Obama knew then, he said, they had the same “value set” and “political disposition.” “That’s what I most want in whomever I pick,” Biden said. “They’ve got to be simpatico with what I stand for and what I want to get done.”

He’ll need a worker bee with an established presence in DC and who won’t contradict him. Biden/Warren is much stronger for turnout but they aren’t made for the same sandbox. Of course, Warren/Booker would be an even better ticket.

would be a far better fit than strife-seeking, tear-everybody-down media are portraying.

Remember, Hillary was also looking for a workmate VP, and Warren decided she wanted to help make Hillary's long-list agenda, which ideologically was very similar to hers, a reality. They were a good pair because they were both committed to making real change, and a lot of it, happen. Warren had already given Hillary her full endorsement, and they came so close that they actually ran it up the campaign flagpole to try it out.

I don't doubt for a minute that Biden and Warren, both nice, highly principled people who work very well with others, would make a good team if they decided they wanted to. And both Klobuchar and Warren have the qualifications that, as you say, a make-it-happen VP needs to bring to the job. As no doubt do others Biden's been carrying around on a mental short list for some time, of course.

than just some of his fellow candidates. Could really be, though. The enthusiasm she's generating among Democrats could be a big asset.

I really liked the Hillary-Warren team too, Warren's carpe diem ambitions complementing and being tempered by Hillary's more steady progressivism. Sigh.

VP's not the only place for Warren, though. As VP or as a cabinet head, I've always seen her as a potential Frances Perkins using the power of established government to create big changes from within. She's too dynamic for the deliberative senate. Hope, hope.

While we're thinking of candidates, let's at least mention some other good people who may or may not be scribbled on the list, like Harris. Unfortunately, the white men, including some redoubtable governors like Inslee, are probably not in the cards, but Booker and Castro may be.

VP Joe made zero mention of wanting someone with a heavyweight resume during his Q&A with black journalists via Politico:

Biden said it’s important to choose a No. 2 who reflects the nation’s growing diversity, indicating he would choose a running mate who is either a woman or person of color, if not both.

“But I’m not making that commitment until I know the person I’m dealing with, I can completely, thoroughly trust, is authentic and is on the same page,” he said... Stacey Abrams was cheated out of GA's governorship so everyone knows she could now have been governor, is sharp as a tack who has been busy running her non-profit advocacy group focused helping to ensure future election security, will put GA and FL into serious play (black voters will stand in line all day for Biden/Abrams, people) given Trump's underwater approval ratings, and will supercharge black voter turnout. The latter two will not happen with Warren, in my opinion as an Obama Mama since 2007.

Perhaps most importantly for the future of this country, VP Abrams will make it her mission to ensure our elections are secure. I am all for that and so should all Democrats.

I truly believe a black woman should be the VP. We need to juice turnout in the black centers of this country like Atlanta, Detroit, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, etc. to flip these states to blue.

Michelle Obama would be the ideal VP, but Abrams would be great too! I'm sure there are some other fantastic black candidates as well that might not be so known right now.

This is how it always works with the black vote when there is an established favorite with high name recognition and favorable ratings facing challengers they either know and aren't that enthusiastic about (ie Sanders apparently) or who they are just getting to know (ie Warren).

If he loses IA, NH and NV, you'll see movement to other candidates.

The only one who should be very concerned is Sanders since Warren has already tied him (in this poll at least) and this is his second go-round. I'm sure it's because she's doing much better with women than him.

weak with black voters. Especially since he's the current front runner. Democrats need to win!

All these mentions of black voters as debating points get old. At some point the conversation needs more focus on which policies have the greatest promise to create opportunity and reduce racial inequality. On this forum from the pro-Biden crowd I mostly see end zone dancing about who has the most black voters, four months before the primary. How did that work out in 2016? A primary win for Clinton, depressed black turnout in key states in the November election, and a loss in the GE. What did we learn?

Recognition that there are regional and generational differences among black voters would be a start. More substantive discussion of actual policies and their impact on inequality would be a game changer.

Biden consistently has commanded a staggering lead among black voters. Two-thirds of black voters over 65 are backing Biden, as well as 42 percent of black voters overall; Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) comes in a distant second with about 12 percent support. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is down at 8 percent and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg is not even registering at 1 percent.

This sounds like a pretty interesting story. Instead, “frontrunner, but …” is a common refrain. Consider the new Axios-NewsWhip 2020 tracker that found Biden has been bombarded by negative coverage. Of the 100 stories about Biden that got the most social media attention, 77 were negative. Presumably, the same is true of cable news.

Even with the magnification of Biden’s gaffe-du-jour and the flow of media admiration of Warren’s surge — both of which reflect a true story — Biden’s backers are the most committed. Nearly 65 percent of his supporters say they’ll definitely support him, as opposed to just 34 percent of those who support other candidates.....

Why is it so hard for people to grasp that Biden isn’t just the most “electable” but, rather, the candidate with positions most in line with Democrats’ preferences? His platform is made up of policies that poll incredibly well and his supporters aren’t masking their love for progressives in favor of a safe bet. They like Joe.
