Why won't some people accept that Biden did not tell the truth about his support for the Iraq invasion? Its not like it is not on video, that it is not recorded in newspapers, I mean, there is plenty of proof.

It would have been better for him to have said "I made a mistake when I supported the Iraq invasion, and I have learned a lot from my mistake and that of the Bush administration who mishandled it horribly." I would have applauded that.

support for the Iraq war.

Are we going to continue making a pass at people when they don't tell the truth just because he is "our chosen one"? Isn't that part of the problem we are having with the creature today?

We have to demand that our candidates tell the truth all the time, we cannot criticize the creature for not telling the truth then turn around and give Biden a pass because he is our candidate. When is this going to stop?

Demand the truth from every one, otherwise we will continue in this path of deceit, we will never have a government that is on the level with its citizens.

I really don't get it.

Voice modulation is one of the most powerful weapons that you can have in your arsenal while delivering a speech. Not only does it reflect confidence but it also helps in convincing your audience about your beliefs or ideas. This is the power that voice modulation commands over people!

Guess most will wait till the new year to endorse. I'm guessing Biden will continue to decline through winter. Even here on DU, where I assume members are more ear-to-the-ground on policy stances, Biden hasn't moved from 14% in ages, despite the loud voices.
Yes, Bernie is stuck at 8% but I think it is well known that DU isn't Sanders friendly at present.

First, NOBODY is perfect.

Biden has made a few bad calls and mistakes over the many years he's been in public life. Probably a bunch more in private life.

But, I firmly believe every one of these horrific misdeeds ( , just in case...) was done after somber and sober deliberation, and he was often in the position of choosing the "least bad" option.

None of these incidents disqualify him from the Presidency. All they do is show that he is human.

His expertise in navigating through complex political and diplomatic conflicts both domestic and foriegn is unriveled in the current field.

Biden has been a selfless public servant most of his life. His constituents keep voting him back into office. Most importantly, President Obama, a man whom I deeply admire, chose Biden to be his VEEP for both terms. That's a powerful endorsement that mitigates the silliness of his misspoken annecdotes.

Always the same ones, I've noticed. And typically supporters of the same candidate (either currently, or historically) and that reveals much to me as well. All I'm saying is that it's pretty obvious that with these types of posts, they're getting worried and nervous. Biden frightens them when they see their currently preferred (or historically preferred) candidate's chances slipping away. In fairness, I understand that they want "their" candidate to prevail... but it's very short sighted to try and "kneecap" the party's likely nominee with things like "but his gaffes" and "but his IWR".

Joe, on the other hand, is an accomplished, decent, lifelong public servant, yet he’s the focus of 99% of the negative scrutiny in this campaign. Moreso when the criticisms one’s rebuffing are spurious. I doubt you’d find many of us supporting Biden if it came out that he used to beat his wife or was once a member of the KKK. But doubling down in the face of unwarranted screeching by supporters of candidates he’s leading just feels right.

I do vow not to pile on candidates and to try to limit my criticisms to (1) policies and (2) concerns about electability. I honestly don’t like Bernie as a candidate and probably wouldn’t get on well with him as a person, but I don’t take opportunities to start threads bashing him. Kamala’s stinging criticisms of Biden’s racial record really rubbed me the wrong way, but I’m getting over it. Of course I would gladly vote for her should she win the nomination. I have a lot of respect for her.

Everyone else I like. Not the biggest fan of some of Warren’s supporters or the fact that she, as several insiders have said, seems to be getting a “free ride” in the press these days, but I think she’s just a terrific candidate.

What goes on here in this forum will have no effect whatsoever on the outcome of the primaries but it does have an impact on many members who participate and if DU history is a guide, it will get very ugly here as time goes on.

So I think it best to kind of just step back. I guess it would be different if it had an impact in the real world but it doesn't and it doesn't make any sense to me to allow it to have an impact on my personal real world.

170. These alleged gaffes are eye-rolling examples of the absurdity of the press or the woke left
Wed Sep 11, 2019, 08:28 PM
Sep 2019

To many Biden supporters, who polls consistently show are older, more working class, and more culturally conservative, these alleged gaffes are eye-rolling examples of the absurdity of the press or the woke left. They think the young activist in eastern Iowa should toughen up, that the throwaway line to the 13-year-old is endearing, and that Biden’s lack of precision when he speaks, about scooters or so many other things, is a sign of his authenticity. And they grouse that Biden is held to a standard President Donald Trump is not.

How Democrats see such episodes is at the heart of the Democratic primary. One side views these sorts of typical Biden campaign-trail moments as evidence of a politician well past his prime — casually sexist in a way that might have gone unremarked in, say, 1973 when he first joined the Senate. His supporters see them as good examples of why he’s the lovable Democrat best-suited to beat Trump. What is clear is that the critics, who are louder and more visible online and on cable TV, have had absolutely no impact on changing Biden’s status as the steady front-runner in the race.

This woke-working class divide is at the heart of the most salient fact about the Democratic primaries: Nothing has damaged Biden. Biden entered the race with about 30 percent support nationally and he has that same 30 percent today.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
