Former Vice President Joe Bidens performance at the CNN climate change town hall was roundly panned as offering vague, evasive answers on climate policy and an upcoming fundraiser with a fossil fuel executive although many viewers were apparently just distracted and grossed out by his left eye, which inexplicably filled with blood during the event.
Numerous online critics called out Biden for noncommittal responses and thought that he struggled to offer coherent replies. That last criticism centered on a question from an audience member who took direct aim at the 2020 presidential candidates pledge to refuse money from the fossil fuel industry, by confronting Biden about the fundraiser the candidate has scheduled for the very next night at the home of a natural gas executive.

I was talking with my aunt one day and watched one develop in her eye. It began as a tiny little red dot which gradually got bigger. Finally, I asked her if her eye hurt, which it didn't so I told her that her eye looked like it was bleeding. The whole inner corner of her eye was solid red.
She went to the dr and he told her it was nothing to worry about

(43,107 posts)Joe Bidens eye appeared to be bleeding during a CNN town hall on climate change. Eagle-eyed viewers took to Twitter to express concern about the bloody eye.
While others questioned whether photos on Twitter of Bidens bloody eye were photoshopped, heres video that shows that Joe Bidens eye does appear to be bleeding or bloody during the CNN town hall. Washington Examiner reported that Bidens eye appeared to have a burst blood vessel during the CNN town hall on September 4, 2019. You can watch the video and judge for yourself.

Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. underwent surgery today to correct an aneurysm in an artery that supplies blood to the right side of the brain, a spokesman for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center said.
The spokesman, Peter Esker, said Senator Biden was awake, resting comfortably and talking with his family after the operation, his second this year to correct an aneurysm. An aneurysm is a ballooning of an artery.
The 4 1/2-hour procedure was similar to that performed Feb. 12 on the left side of Mr. Biden's brain. Under the procedure, a surgeon using a microscope pinches the aneurysm with a clip, bringing the walls of the artery together. The clip remains in the patient.
Mr. Esker said there are no signs of any other aneurysms, adding that the second was much smaller than the first.
''The Senator is awake and alert, oriented, moving all extremities well and is conversing with his family,'' Mr. Esker said. ''He is expected to be hospitalized about 10 days and then would go home to recuperate.''

In February 1988, after suffering from several episodes of increasingly severe neck pain, Biden was taken by long-distance ambulance to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and given lifesaving surgery to correct an intracranial berry aneurysm that had begun leaking; the situation was serious enough that a priest had administered last rites at the hospital. While recuperating, he suffered a pulmonary embolism, which represented a major complication. Another operation to repair a second aneurysm, which had caused no symptoms but was also at risk from bursting, was performed in May 1988. The hospitalization and recovery kept Biden from his duties in the U.S. Senate for seven months. Biden has had no recurrences or effects from the aneurysms since then. In retrospect, Biden's family came to believe that the early end to his presidential campaign had been a blessing in disguise, for had he still been campaigning in the midst of the primaries in early 1988, he might well have not have stopped to seek medical attention and the condition might have become unsurvivable.

If you watched his town hall and came away with these takeaways, you should reevaluate your priorities and maybe do a little self-reflection as to why you are seeing what a plurality of would-be Democratic voters do not.

(8,144 posts)intentional participation in a blatant lie. I saw Joe. I am pretty adept at judging public speaking. But let me not crow on that score.
He was subject conversant, knowledgeable, fluent and had good presence throughout. He was never incoherent or rambling. He was focused.
He is a well trained speaker who, unlike some rivals, does not employ repetitive and distracting arm and hand gestures that do nothing to emphasize specific points or disperse obvious nervousness. Some could use coaching. Too warm is not good. Joe has good variation in vocal expression while some stay at one keyed-up level. Admittedly, some audiences prefer this warmer level.
Actually, though I only caught some of Bernie, he came across as balanced tonight, serious and in
command, but not haranguing, abrasive.

(2,532 posts)<a href="https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/450061-poll-finds-biden-the-top-choice-for-climate-minded-voters">
"Former Vice President Joe Biden is the top choice for president among likely Democratic voters who are focused on the climate, according to a new poll.
The online poll, released Monday as a collaboration between the Sierra Club and Morning Consult, limited its results to voters who said candidates' plans for the climate are an important factor in their vote.
While Biden would be the top choice for 37 percent of climate-minded voters, Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) came in second and third with 19 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
The results echo other national polls of Democrats, which have largely found Biden far ahead of Sanders and Warren, with the senators in a tough fight for second place.

(12,047 posts)Joe Biden had a terrible performance at CNN's town hall on the climate crisis, and he has the battle scars to prove it.
The former vice president joined other 2020 candidates Wednesday night to discuss their promised answers to climate change and, naturally, some questions left a few contenders stuck. But Andrew Yang's non-answer to quantifying carbon reduction was nothing compared to the whammy Biden suffered when asked about an upcoming fundraiser hosted by a founder of a fossil fuel company.
Early in Biden's time onstage, he was hit with what The New York Times called "probably the toughest question of the night:" How can Biden take on the fossil fuel industry when he's holding a Thursday fundraiser hosted by Andrew Goldman, a co-founder of liquefied natural gas production company? Biden first insisted Goldman is "not a fossil fuel executive," then seemed not so sure, and then recentered the blame on his staff.
Twitter had one question: What the hell just happened?
Joe Bidens eye just started bleeding? This isnt a joke what in the hell just happened
