Seen this action before in the 2008 primary.. and the 2016 primary..

and it does not work out well for us.. people get themselves so worked up hating on who is running against their choice it drives them blind to the larger picture.. in 2008, fully half of the Clinton voters exit polls (of the primaries and caucuses) said they would not vote for Obama.. a huge group decided to vote for McCain..luckily the movement for President Obama was so strong that it did not derail us.. but they went off and became the worst enemies of the President.. and so much so.. that in 2010 we lost the state houses the republicans were able to redistrict to the point that they have a death grip on us..

Then in 2016, the same thing happened again. people got themselves so tied up in knots that they ended up voting the green party..

So here we go again.. people are totally getting themselves lost in their politics again.. and we could lose this altogether.. if hate of the other becomes stronger than a common purpose..

Primary season is tough on everyone.. we do not have to keep repeating history .. leave a little room between our passions and objectivity.. we all have passions for the person we support.. but don't let it blind us to the point we would not be able to vote for someone who was not our original choice..

Just saying..

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I'm supporting Warren in the primary. I don't hate any of our candidates, but I like Warrens positions.

I've promised myself that I won't succumb to the mob mentality that characterized the 2016 primaries, and that I'm ashamed to admit influenced my behavior and commentary on DU. And I'm definitely not going to sift the Internet looking for and posting negative stories (especially not the same ones over and over) about candidates that I'm not crazy about. Nobody is going to be persuaded by stories about how "OMG Candidate X says he likes dogs but did you hear that he actually hates puppies?" I have some favorites and some not-so-favorites but I will enthusiastically vote for whoever gets the nomination. It does us no good at all to become so fanatical about a favorite that we find it necessary to trash everybody else.

I have noticed lately that the same people seem to specialize in posting only negative material (repetitively) and I wish they'd stop.

up a story that has no merit are malicious actors. It is another thing
altogether to argue for a preferred candidate’s policy positions, overall vision, potential chances to win against Trump, to tout their campaign successes, to show how they would be the best leader etc.

And to forthrightly challenge all the same elements in another campaign is not malice, but a healthy attempt to debate differences and argue against support for a preferred while we are still in early days.

I am glad supporters of various candidate have been discouraging the “professional naysayers” who post several destructive threads a day.

I hope they will hear us and stop Velveteen., not fair criticism and persuasive argument, but that malicious barrage so demoralizing, it sucks up all the joy we can have in fighting Trump, engaging each other, stumping for our preferred, and staying reved up for the long journey to victory ahead of us. Kill joys should desist when asked.

I just quoted this on another thread

So keep your auditions for somebody
Who hasn't got so much to lose

That I've seen that movie too

I'm not rallying around any candidate just yet. I want to sit back, listen to what they have to offer and make a decision after the primaries. Let's be honest the top 4 to 5 candidates by recent polls show that any of them can beat Trump.

WY - do not let yourself get so wrapped in the idea that you must have your personal preference or else...
the else being you would show 'em all by acting out, in detriment to the overall cause, with a protest vote for a Nader or Stein type spoiler, or what some did last time around who voted scorched earth mode - for Trump!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
