Could any of us go withstand the scrutiny that is placed on our candidates today?

I have been reading things on here about candidates, our candidates, that go back 10 or 30 years. If you were investigated in this manner, looking at all of your postings, all of your work history, all of your personal relationships back to high school survive it?

I think we have gone overboard in terms of investigating our candidates. I am thankful every day of my life that the internet was not around when I was in school, both high school and God forbid college. I couldn't run for dog catcher if that were the case and neither could many of the people posting things about our candidates.

People evolve, we learn and grow, some more than others. Elizabeth Warren is a good example, she is being bashed for once being a conservative, well, she clearly isn't now and her voting record in the senate will back that up. I care where she stands right now. She is my second choice to Biden, I love her.

I refuse to hold candidates to some stupid standard and litmus test. We need to use our heads to choose the candidates we support, not some stupid test none of US could pass.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Perhaps not if I was a professional politician, and no, some of my online activities would not be tied to me, due to things like DU's rule against doxxing members and the general anonymity we all share.

The level of anonymity at DU would probably be breached if running for major office. All the things like GoogleAnalytics, Facebook, et al track and identify you around the internet.

embarrass me now.. I have lived a long life through many changes.. and hopefully have grown as a human being and dropped the impression that were put on me as a child and moved into a place where I can stand with some pride at where my priorities lay today..

If I go back 30 years, I was a small child. I agree that we should think carefully before we judge a candidate's history. People do change.

Candidates need to be grown ups and accept criticism and responsibility for their histories. Defend it or apologize. Pretending that it's off limits despite putting ones self on a public stage in a position that demands thorough scrutiny is ridiculous.

Nobody with any history?

Now the opposition could come up with things you don't even remember.
