(80,693 posts)was admirable as all-get-out. Elegant, classy, powerful yet calming to a deeply traumatized community that needed to exactly that kind of leadership. Presidential as can be - and what a co yeast to the shithead weve had to deal with during a dreadful national shock-to-the-system! And he was right there. Went right there, as soon as he could. Left the campaign trail to be there for his horrified home turf. Put his ambitions aside to be there for the people hed represented.
Really impressed me. HE was the Comforter-in-Chief that everyone needed, from the people of El Paso to all the rest of us in America who could only watch in helpless horror. Something trump wasnt and never could even pretend to be.
Im surprised this didnt make a stronger impression. It was such a dramatic and welcome contrast that I thought it would have completely resurrected his faltering campaign.

(48,727 posts)Biden has 22% of the white vote, 16% of the Hispanic vote, 39% of the black vote, and 20% "Other."
For Warren those numbers are 19, 13, 8 and 11.
For Sanders, 7, 22, 8, 25.
For O'Rourke, 8, 17, 14, 12.
For Harris, 7, 6, 10, 0.
For Castro, 2, 2, 3, 0.
For Buttigieg, 8, 5, 3, 5.
For Gabbard, 5, 3, 1, 5.
So in Texas both Sanders and O'Rourke do better with Hispanics than Biden does.
Biden does best with white Texans, though Warren's a close second, and O'Rourke and Buttigieg tied for a distant third.
And of course Biden does far and away the best with the black vote there, with nearly 3 times the support O'Rourke gets from black voters, nearly 4 times the support Harris has, and nearly 5 times the support Sanders and Warren have.

(42,862 posts)I'm thinking maybe the poll-takers have NO idea who ANY of the candidates are and she gets chosen at random... simply because she's one of the choices... and for no particular reason other than the fact that her name is listed as a choice.
Like when students pick random answers on their standardized SAT tests... they just fill in a bubble in the hopes that maybe it's correct.

(10,472 posts)as "the only Democrat they like". These people have a bottomless, crazy obsession with "The Deep State" and view Gabbard as "regrettably wacky on social issues" (these are direct quotes of right-wingers, not my view) but is outside of the party apparatus and posing a threat to Pelosi, the Clintons, etc...
It's a complete enemy-of-my-enemy thing.
