Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWe lost the 9th district in NC, in very close election, in a district that trump won by 12 points in
2016.
While the "closeness" of the election perhaps signals optimism for us in 2020, I think any extrapolation of such, along with the assumption that the "low" favorability ratings of trump and the congressional republicans, means we have smooth sailing for 2020, no matter who we nominate, will easily prevail, would be a very bad assumption for us to make.
Nothing can be taken for granted, and whoever our candidate is, in order to be successful, I believe that candidate needs to be able to be prevail in a few red or purple states and districts.

(9,225 posts)That scared the bejeesus out of the MAGAts down there. So in the special election, held because of NC-09 MAGAt election fraud, they came out in DROVES to make sure their MAGAt won this time. Because it surely did not the last time.
So IMO that's what happened. NC MAGAts wanted to keep their district RED because minus the election fraud last time, they'd have LOST it.
And what does THAT say? Well...to me it says they just MIGHT be as vulnerable elsewhere - IF THEY don't continue to commit massive election fraud in as many places as possible. Which they will because they're Republicans and the ONLY way they can win usually, is to CHEAT.

(6,373 posts)If you think something funny may have happened, you have to prove there was election fraud this time. Can't ask someone to prove their WASN'T fraud.

(92,061 posts)because it was shown that there was ballot fraud, and the state election board there conducted an investigation which showed that, along with a scheme to illegally collect and tamper with absentee ballots, voided the election, and ordered a special election.
Accusations may be a cathartic experience, but accomplishes very little unless it can be backed up by evidence

(6,373 posts)But it still has to be proven in this election, too, if that accusation is going to be made. I'm not saying anything one way or the other, but just because it happened in 2018 doesn't mean it happened yesterday as well.

(12,265 posts)The 9th has been in Republican hands since 1963 I believe. The fact that he came within 2 points is significant. As expected, Trumps little visit brought out the rural votes that put him over the top but he didn't win by 12 like Trump did. We are getting there, we are winning the suburban and urban vote in most states now, if we get that vote out and the few who know he is nuts in the rural areas, we win big. GOTV run like we are 10 points behind. Don't get complacent!

(262 posts)Our candidate should remind voters of the corruption and unlawful acts this clown in the WH has done and WILL CONTINUE TO DO IF RE-ELECTED next year!! The candidate doesn't have to bad mouth Trumpte Dumpte all the time in speeches. Because Trumpte Dumpte fires back with useless rhetoric only for his base and I think turns off many people including old time republicons and indepedents. Let's see the candidate voice what we all know about how Trumpte Dumpte has messed up things so bad it will take several democratic terms to fix them!! But, no matter who you gotta VOTE BLUE!!
