Not about talking to the FBI, but publicly releasing the fact that it happened. It looks a little bit "scardy-cat", and no doubt will be portrayed that way by the reich-wing, should he seek elected office after this campaign.

I was surprised last night by O'Rourke not engaging in the self-depreciation that he exhibited on the first two debates, but he has to avoid it like crazy in the future if he wants to be seen as a strong leader.

a family and small kids to think about. Not only that, but every nutjob supporter of Cain is now focused on Beto and his family. Not OK. Charge Cain with a felony, lock his ass up, and take his guns. That is the only acceptable course of action at this point.

In Texas, there are different threat charges an individual can face based on the nature of the alleged comments. A verbal threat is charged as a Class C misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of up to $500. But not all instances of verbal assault are charged as Class C misdemeanors. When a threat causes the victim to fear for her imminent safety, the offender can face a Class B misdemeanor charge. This charge is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. A verbal threat made against a victim who has a restraining order against the offender is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $4,000 and up to one year in jail

Verbal threat laws in Texas are taken seriously. Even when the individual who made the alleged threat was joking with the victim or only blowing off steam, she may face a serious criminal charge if there is sufficient evidence to support the claim that she knowingly, intentionally made a threatening statement that caused the victim to fear for his physical safety or that of a close loved one.

Threatening government officials of the United States is a felony under federal law. Threatening the President of the United States is a felony under 18 U.S.C. § 871, punishable by up to 5 years of imprisonment, that is investigated by the United States Secret Service. Threatening other officials is a Class C or D felony, usually carrying maximum penalties of 5 or 10 years under 18 U.S.C. § 875, 18 U.S.C. § 876 and other statutes, that is investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. When national boundaries are transcended by such a threat, it is considered a terrorist threat.

the calling in of Federal authorities, and I certainly see the need to protect his family. I'm only questioning the idea of disclosing those contacts to the public.

Not sure whether or not declared candidates for president are considered the same as "government officials" in your second citation. It may well apply to former government officials, of which Beto O'Rourke is one.

the assault weapons! Take the Rifles, semi-autos, everything! Isn't that the solution that rethugs keep pushing? Taking guns from the mentally ill? Well, here's their chance to prove it. Cain is clearly unstable and "mentally ill."
