Yamiche Alcindor @Yamiche 3hSenator Kamala Harris says President Trump's trade policy is motivated by his "fragile ego."
She said Trump reminds her of the Wizard of Oz.

Kamala is at her best when she attacks the right person.

(3,426 posts)but I think it did not come across the right way. You see a little dog pulled the curtain back. Trump worries about total self exposure more than anything. Now, if Harris would have pointed out that Trump does not have and never had a dog and furthermore hates dogs probably because of Toto the dog ! , one might picture Trump behind a very thick IRON CURTAIN . And there lies the point.

(25,183 posts)And it is likely to have little effect on younger voters, many of whom have no idea about the iconic movie that was a virtual centerpiece of life for the Baby Boomers.
Also, at least twice, she went into that schoolgirl gigglefest of hers. Yes, she's trying to sharpen the hard edge that she has from her image as a prosecutor, and is working on "likability" (can anyone even imagine Elizabeth Warren laughing half as much as even one such outburst?) but it looked contrived to me.

(85,976 posts)...I posted it because it had a widespread favorable response among the folks I read last night, which included all ages, and not a few professionals whose opinions people rely on to form their own.
The 'giggle schoolfest' sounds suspiciously sexist. Kamala Harris has ALWAYS been a outwardly cheerful person, and criticizing her for a laugh which is going to be decidedly feminine, makes your entire argument hyper-critical nonsense without basis in anything but your own offending opinion.
It's nonsense because the majority of what she said was more than 'sharp,' it was professionalism based on actual experience solving the issues she's raised.
This gossipy crap about her laugh and ridiculing a joke she told is the worst of what this place has to offer.

(25,183 posts)a president who has both a sense of humor and the seriousness that the job entails. Bill Clinton pulled that off marvelously by both playing the saxophone on the Arsenio Hall show and having substantive articulated positions on policy.
Yes, I acknowledge that its tougher for a female candidate to thread that needle, but it makes it imperative that it be done correctly. I just think she overdid the laugh thing. Even Cory Booker kept a relatively straight face while he told his "No" joke. Good comedians don't laugh at their own jokes.
If I'm wrong, we'll see her poll numbers rise again.

(85,976 posts)So Politico's DC reporters have deemed Kamala's sense of humor as lame -- but actual voters in Michigan appear to be loving it: https://twitter.com/mollyhc/status

...there's literally nothing she can do without someone going on about how they'd do it different or better. And all of these admonitions against doing something, or the other, offered up by these would-be political sages.
Now that's funny.
