Biden needs a coach.

The trouble he has in a debate is simple. He's boxed in by moderators and candidates who are rushing to kill. He rushes. He tries to answer fast and scattershot. Things spill out willy-nilly, in that frenzy.

A skilled coach would tell him, I think, to approach the answer calmly and slowly.

He's the front runner. He owns the turf right now.

He doesn't have to holler and gesticulate like Bernie and Warren do. He doesn't have to attack anyone.

His marketable trait is confidence and experiencce.

Prep with staff. When the question comes, smile. Breathe. Respond confidently and slowly.

How come his handlers aren't working on that?

From my observation of Joe Biden, he will stumble and capitulate when confronted with brutal, ruthless and consistent fierce attack during national debates. In a nutshell Barney and Elizabeth will easily destroy Trump.

He's not sparring with other candidates here who are wanting to knock him off. But it's interesting to see how his mind is working. And that is why I think some expert could give him strategy for this moment.

This is who he is. The "debate" format, which isn't a real debate at all, is not his best forum because he doesn't answer questions in a quick, succinct way, but he does very well in real debates.

He doesn't answer questions in a quick succinct way. (when candidates around him are furiously gesticulating and hollering and trying to knock him off)

But if he had a coach who would give him the tools to make that a positive rather than a negative style that is giving ammunition others are using against him.....

All it takes is being in control at that moment. Milk it. Smile. (his best asset). Take a breath and take time.

He needs a better team. And/or a good coach, as you say.

Biden has a long history of gaffes and offensive statements. No coach will change that.

She does it all the time. It works for her.

So does Bernie. It works for him.

I can't describe who is gaining on him other than she keeps winning debates, the last with Biden on stage.

and they are not above finding one who could do that.

It is a mistake for Biden to believe he is just too seasoned and experienced to benefit from the guidance of a coach.
