MSNBC's Joy Reid is getting desperate, pushing for Joe to leave race. She's getting lots of backlash

Joy has her favorite candidate so she is making a last ditch effort. The thing is, this latest move is backfiring on her. When will they ever learn?

The twitter comments say it all...

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Sat Sep 14, 2019, 06:04 PM

it including what it entails, and I suspect many failed to grasp what he was trying to say, or even grasp the complexities of the question.

This conversation does not just apply to one demographic either, it applies to all, and to suggest that environment and home life does not mold someone growing up, I believe ignores much

The answer is not so easy though, because it infringes on the rights of parents to raise their children as they see fit

For example, a child brought up in a family which advocates the views of racism and bigotry, how will that child turn out?

It is not that far different than those who say, no one can tell me whether my kid can be vaccinated or not. While it can be argued legitimately, that this represents a public health hazard that affects the well-being of everyone, the environment a child is brought up in will also have an impact on society.

"No one tells me how I am going to raise my child"

At what point, if ever, should society intervene?

That is easy to determine if the child is provided with drugs or other concrete things that endanger that child, but that can't be done in cases with parents who don't involve themselves in what their children are doing, because it infringes on our freedoms.

That is why things like the school lunch programs, big brothers, head start, etc. are so important to try to address those deficiencies.

This is not the first time this issue has been brought up. This discussion has been going on for some time.

It is related to the reparations

It is related to the busing issue. To try to move students into a better environment where they can be in a better learning environment.

This is not simply a binary issue, it is far more complex, and involves individual rights, parents rights, and societies responsibilities, and I would argue those who want to simplify it to absolutisms, that if you go one way you are a racist, and if you go another way you are not, I believe are ignoring the compmlexities of the entire issue

Suggesting that Black parents don't know how to parent is not the way to answer that question, unless you're a Republican. But that's precisely how Biden chose to answer the question.

We're talking about systemic racism, which continues to influence every aspect of American life. We're talking about the very foundation of this nation. But, hey, the problem is Black parents don't expose their children to enough spoken words. Jesus H Christ.

so unworthy for some reason that hostiles in the media demand he or she withdraw, spread wide by those eager to take the hand-off.

You can make all the excuses and rationalizations you want, and even believe it's right for you to call for the candidate who's been far out ahead since before he even announced to withdraw entirely.

But Biden's the frontrunner this time and the demands to take him out that you are part of are as predictable as wildfire in summer, as is race as the weapon of choice. Our own RW agents and Putin's never stopped stoking racial divisions to defeat us, and are just revving up the output.

February 3 is only 142 days away. And THAT is why right on schedule after the third debate we're seeing this coordinated attack on our current frontrunner. Using whatever material can be mined from it. If this wasn't used, something else would. Probably also chosen race related, but quickly advancing senility is possible.

I'm hoping for, even if delayed (perhaps to the middle of the night?), some reaction that resents being used by Russia and people like McConnell to defeat yourself and turn the U.S. into a broken democracy, ruled by right wing autocracy. I don't know if you have children who might generate a little reasonable fear, but we now know it really can happen here. And like all bad things it'll happen worst to minorities. This isn't some stupid ball game we get to scream and yell at and then just go home from.

66. I haven't called for him to drop out, but I don't buy the premise of a certain narrative.
Sat Sep 14, 2019, 09:03 PM
Sep 2019

People have convinced themselves that only Biden can win, based largely on a false narrative about what happened in 2016 and why.

Some honestly seem to think the key to winning is flipping Trump voters in PA, MI and WI. As opposed to boosting turnout among our base. Hundreds of thousands who showed up for Obama didn't show up for Clinton in key battleground states (it isn't that they voted for Trump; it's that they didn't vote at all or voted 3rd party). But people think flipping Trump voters is the key (and that nominating an old white male will do the trick). It's madness. This will be a base election. We need to boost turnout among POC, youth and white suburban women. That's what wins us the White House.

By the way, Jamelle Bouie wrote a good piece about the Obama-Trump voter that I've posted several times before: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2016/11/why-did-some-white-obama-voters-for-trump.html

People can't seem to grasp that A) some racists voted for Obama (like the racists who are married to a person of color and, therefore, can't be racist) following 8 years of Bush-Cheney and B) some of those Obama voters had become completely blinded by racism after 8 years of racist attacks on Obama (and are never coming back). Instead, they insist that a key to winning in 2020 is winning back a fraction of a fraction of voters who happened to vote for both Obama and Trump (due to *white* economic anxiety, 'cause - you know - POC don't experience economic anxiety--yeah, that's sarcasm). And, therefore, we need to nominate an old white man to defeat an old white man. Again, it's madness.

Jamil Smith of Rolling Stone is exactly right that non-racism isn't enough. We need someone well-versed in anti-racism. That ain't Biden. And Biden has made comments that suggest he's not even versed in non-racism.

only one that counts, and there's still a lot of campaigning to go. However, people who know we must win this election simply don't try to take out the currently most redoubtable candidate -- at any time.

As for the reality that racist attitudes are pervasive among every racial group in every nation on the planet, including the Democratic Party, and are always exacerbated in anxious times, is this supposed to be new? Or suddenly such a compelling problem in our party that we must turn our backs on the Republicans to stomp it out -- right now, starting with our currently strongest candidate?

No one should ever turn their backs on these Republicans. I wasn't being frivolous in pointing out that everything that happened after the far right took control, and we couldn't get it back, would happen worst to minorities. These people are mean and their racism isn't the ingrained "white liberal" thoughtlessness type, it's aggressively vicious.

The Repubs can't win free elections any more, so at most they'd put on phony ones, which they are already doing where they can. And with that minorities would lose the power of the vote that all rights and protections depend on. AAs above all know that'd be true, of course, but maybe past time to consider just how bad it could become.

The man was asked how to repair the legacy of slavery. He could have answered that any number of ways, but he chose to suggest that Black parents need to be taught how to parent. It's not surprising that people are outraged. It's disappointing that there aren't more people who are outraged--and, instead, they're outraged that Joy Reid had on a guest who is outraged.

And they are ignoring the fact that Joe's answer was indeed wretched.

Seriously, his plan for addressing a culture of racism is to send social workers to the homes of black families to teach them how to raise their kids?!?

Willful acceptance and defense of a leader's faults is what GOPers do with Trump.

And blaming Joy won't make Joe a better candidate.

Interesting people think the only way to beat Biden is for him to drop out. If he gets the most votes, too bad. The other candidates need to get more votes, not hope someone beating them drops out so they can win. It's silly anyway.

Sat Sep 14, 2019, 05:36 PM
Sep 2019

It's her show, she's free to do what she wants.

The audience demographic of the show is another matter.

I don't watch her show. I'm down to Maddow, O'Donnell, and Williams, Monday through Friday, and she does occasionally guest host shows in that block.

I didn't see the segment that set off the fireworks. Don't really need or want to.

If she is advocating a "get out Joe" agenda, either through her own words or by giving her guests a forum to do so, she's putting herself on the wrong side of that audience demographic.

And that's her choice. She's an adult, and I'm not going to attack her for it, nor will I defend her if there's blowback...and it looks like there is.

I don't base my actions on the opinions of others. When it comes to Joe Biiden, I make my decisions based on Joe Biden. Not Joy Reid.
