not for those than can be reforged as weapons, which is what some are doing.

Did you see that disgraceful thread about Cornpop, where a mob leaped on the word "tiny" and soon were casting 19-year-old Joe-the-lifeguard as a big, 6-foot coward cringing before a skinny, undersized little boy? That's an extreme example of what's in dozens of threads.

And let's all remember what FBI Director Comey was somehow never able to realize: that his innocent, well intended and highly principled interferences in the electoral process all helped Putin win a huge victory in his war on America, putting us all in grave danger.

Right now Biden is the Democrat Russia-Repubs NEED to take out permanently. Surely there's a way for us to engage in discussion of our candidates, including what we don't like about them, without falling into their trap?

This is from RT, for instance: "In some state: Joe Biden doesn’t know where he is. The presidential campaign trail hasn’t been kind to Joe Biden with the Democrat frontrunner frequently bumbling himself into controversies great and small. His latest gaffe saw him forget what state he’s in."

Gee, if Russia wants us chortling over demented, bumbling, gaff-prone Biden, maybe Democrats who like someone else better should refuse, find something else to discuss. Like his current position on immigration reform or childhood education. Nicely and fact based.

Actually Warren didn't vote for Reagan. The only repub she voted for in recent presidential elections was Ford. So either get your facts straight and delete the post, or keep showing yourself to be a huge hypocrite.

This Warren was a repub line from some Biden supporters on here is really as low as it gets and shows true desperation. You don't like what is being written and said about (including actual transcripts of his words) so that gives you the right to lie about Warren as an attempt at deflection?

Sep 2019

is that every time Biden says something that is objected to, one of the continuous responses involves "context."

English is tough, but it ain't that tough. If you keep having to raise context, then maybe it's not "melodramatic bias" it's "poor communication."

But I get it, you need to belittle to avoid that linkage.

BERN NOTICE: Listen To What Biden Keeps Telling His Big Donors

Bloomberg reports that Biden last night praised “great drug companies out there” during an elite fundraiser. Biden’s praise comes only weeks after CBS reports that drug companies have been jacking up prices at “5 times the rate of inflation” in 2019 — which is part of the larger trend of drug companies charging Americans the world’s highest prices for medicine.

Biden has refused to take Bernie’s pledge to reject campaign cash from health care industry executives — instead, the Center for Responsive Politics reports that “no Democratic candidate has pulled in more from the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries than Biden.”

That Health care services, and yes even pharmaceuticals want to invest into Democratic Party candidates is a great thing.

They, quite rightfully, know that we're the ones that will expand programs, so it only makes logical sense that our candidates are the ones they want to support. That does not equate to anything nefarious at all.

The only reason Bernie and some of the others aren't receiving legally made donations is because they have chosen to refuse them. Fine, but it doesn't implicate Biden in anything at all because he isn't turning down legal contributions.

If there is quid pro quo evidence.. at all.. then I'm onboard with it being a bad thing. There isn't, so I'm not.

Frankly, it won't be Biden, or Bernie, or any of our candidates or any president at all that advances our healthcare insurance system, it will be Congress. The president only has the ability to either sign off on what Congress passes, or veto it.

I have no problem at all with Biden because I DO trust him to sign off on ANY Democratic Party led legislation that does progress our healthcare insurance system that makes it through congress.. be it MFA, enhanced ACA or some other advancement. He'll sign it if it's championed by our congress and makes any progress at all, even if it is less than perfect or has some parts that leave a bad taste in the mouth. I likewise trust all of our other candidates running to do the exact same thing with the sole exception of Bernie Sanders. He is the only one I can see breaking out the Veto pen if he gets a hard fought for less than perfect bill that he doesn't completely like.. Which is a large part of why I'm on the anyone BUT Bernie train.

He fell apart in that debate and most of the talking heads couldn’t find a microphone quick enough to sing his praises. That pissed a lot of smart, highly engaged people off who feel as if a stale, subpar choice is being rammed down their throats. Biden’s Iraq answer was almost as bad as his legacy of slavery response but you wouldn’t know it from the teevee. So hooray for Twitter; it was good to see some balance restored to the discussion over the weekend.

I don’t give a shit about Corn Pop but it was mind numbing to see one of the worst performers on that stage graded on a curve just because he is the front runner. Nothing is being made up about that.

Last I knew this was a primary. And the Democrats I know in real life enjoy discussion of different takes on the candidates. What happened to us on DU? Can't have a disagreement without someone being accused of being a troll?

Why are Biden supporters on DU so resistant to any critique of Biden for poorly chosen words? What if Sanders had said what Biden did in the debate? Biden supporters would set a new record for excoriating posts on this forum. You know it's true.

If we truly are a big tent party, gotta walk the talk and respect differences of opinion. Otherwise, what's the.point of a discussion board for Democrats?

Coyotes are faster than roadrunners when running at full speed. Coyotes can reach a maximum of 43 miles per hour. Maximum speed of a roadrunner is 20 mph.

67. Refusing To Allow Dissenting Voices To Question The Rush To Invade Iraq?
Mon Sep 16, 2019, 10:46 PM
Sep 2019

During the summer of 2002, as the Bush Administration was pushing for war, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, under Biden, had the opportunity to hear from any number of academics, former foreign service officials, United Nations personnel, and others specializing in Iraq. Public statements and leaks from the administration in the preceding months had been filled with false claims regarding Iraq’s military capabilities and links to terrorist groups while insisting a U.S. invasion and occupation of that country would go smoothly, with minimal casualties or other negative consequences.

When the hearings commenced on July 31, eighteen witnesses were called, none of whom challenged the administration’s claims that Iraq was in possession of chemical and biological weapons and a nuclear weapons program. All three witnesses who addressed the question of Al-Qaeda claimed that Iraq directly supported the Islamist terrorist group.

Despite overwhelming opposition among academics and foreign service officers familiar with the region, among the twelve witnesses who addressed whether the United States should invade, six were supportive, four were ambivalent, and only two opposed it. Among the witnesses was former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, whom Biden insisted was credible despite multiple perjury indictments for lying before Congress and his history of grossly exaggerating the military capabilities of Nicaragua, Cuba, the Soviet Union, and other designated enemies of the United States.

Throughout the hearings, Biden insisted that Iraq was a threat to U.S. national security and that “regime change” was a legitimate U.S. policy. And he expressed skepticism that renewed inspections would work.

Scott Ritter, the former chief U.N. weapons inspector, noted just prior to the hearings, “For Senator Biden’s Iraq hearings to be anything more than a political sham used to invoke a modern-day Gulf of Tonkin resolution-equivalent for Iraq, his committee will need to ask hard questions—and demand hard facts—concerning the real nature of the weapons threat posed by Iraq.”

But Biden had no intention of doing so, refusing to even allow Ritter—who knew more about Iraq’s WMD capabilities than anyone and would have testified that Iraq had achieved at least qualitative disarmament—to testify. (Ironically, on Meet the Press in 2007, Biden defended his false claims about Iraqi WMDs by insisting that “everyone in the world thought he had them. The weapons inspectors said he had them.”)

Biden also refused to honor requests by some of his Democratic colleagues to include in the hearings some of the leading anti-war scholars familiar with Iraq and Middle East. Nor did Biden call some of the dissenting officials in the Pentagon or State Department who were willing to challenge the alarmist claims.

Ritter accused Biden of having “preordained a conclusion that seeks to remove Saddam Hussein from power regardless of the facts and . . . using these hearings to provide political cover for a massive military attack on Iraq.”

Had Biden allowed for additional hearings with a witness list more representative of the widespread opposition by those actually familiar with Iraq, it is possible the vote in the Democrat-controlled Senate authorizing the war could have turned out differently, and tragedy would have been averted.
