(15 posts)in the last election polls led people astray. polls were impacted by the 'Russian attack'. isn't it time we try to learn from the way our democratic election process has and is being manipulated and stop telling people "how' we will vote, simply talk about why we vote and what issues and problems are important to us?
maybe if we did ... they'd stop talking as if our current man in the white house was put there by a democratic process.

(15 posts)that kind of thinking is no longer viable.
time to pick a governor. someone who can govern.
they play politics because we have turned to much toward their games and away from critical discussion of how to foster the live and let live ness of the constitution that holds it in place.
we are the reason they play. we need to be the reason they shake and shiver

(8,556 posts)But when a candidate comes out significantly ahead in poll after poll after poll one would think that means something.
BTW, the 2016 national polling Hillary vs Trump was quite accurate.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
NOthing ABOUT 2016 was 'accurate'.
nothing.
we were attacked and continue to await the 'debriefing' of that attack.
we know very little.

(12,618 posts)The national polls were pretty much dead on in 2016. The race had narrowed to Hillary leading by a few percentage points in the final week leading up to the election. And that's exactly what she ended up getting. The state polls may have been off, or there may have just been some shenanigans going on. But the national vote was pretty much almost exactly what the polls said it was going to be.
That's why all this talk about Trump having it in the bag no matter what is a bunch of crap. They can steal a close election, but they can't steal a landslide.

(108,925 posts)What comes up when you google Diamond Joe? A real mobster and a cartoon's corrupt politician.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Esposito_(mobster)
Joseph "Diamond Joe" Esposito (born Giuseppe Esposito; Italian pronunciation: [dʒuˈzɛppe eˈspɔːzito]; April 28, 1872 March 21, 1928) was an Italian-born Prohibition-era Chicago politician who was involved in bootlegging, extortion, prostitution and labor racketeering with the Genna Brothers.
And there's the Diamond Joe from The Simpsons:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayor_Quimby
Mayor Joseph Fitzgerald O'Malley Fitzpatrick O'Donnell The Edge Quimby,[2] nicknamed Diamond Joe, is a recurring character from the animated television series The Simpsons. . . . .
Quimby has long served as the mayor of the city of Springfield. He appears as a slick, opportunistic politician whose chief priorities seem to be keeping himself in office and various other forms of corruption, including embezzling tax money, taking bribes from Fat Tony, and giving monthly kickbacks to Police Chief Wiggum.[6] The seal on the wall of his office reads "Corruptus in Extremis",[7] which means "extremely corrupt".

(15 posts)well... that is an interesting question because your candidate wrote a book awhile back... it actually changed the way I was living my life. A Return to Love.
she should probably recognize that Putin may have or will read it.
in which case I could never see her as the leader of our military. EVER. and after Trump, we will need a solid and firm individual who WILL see the worst possible outcome as well as the best possible outcome.
polls do not take that kind of consideration into account and ask overly simple questions... and few manage this important tool with pure scientific rules of approach.
