(113,043 posts)Im from Ohio. I know Corruption blocks common sense changes to gun laws.
Im from Ohio. I know Corruption blocks common sense environmental progress.
Im from Ohio. I know Corruption blocks common sense labor laws that would benefit working families.
Im from Ohio. I know Corruption makes higher education inaccessible to working families.
Your rust belt Schlick is absurd. You want people to believe that appealing to the common sense leanings of working families will fail because rust belt voters have no common sense. I disagree. Most of them do. Your position is arrogant.

(113,043 posts)The number one issue in 2006 election cycle was CORRUPTION. No pundit or strategist expected it, so the answer to the exit polls shocked them.
Bush and GOP Corruption demanded a course change. The American voter responded with a resounding victory in 2006 and 2008. Trump and his cabinet and Republicans in Congress are all steeped in corruption and the American working family will learn how that corruption is effecting their daily lives.
YOU think in stereotypes. I believe in the appeal of logic presented in the language of common sense. That is Warrens superpower.

in the WH and GOP Congress was perceived by the majority of voters in 2006 and 2018.
Trumps WH has already surpassed the corruption of Bushs WH.
Your arguments against Warren are always based in your one-dimensional view of working family voters.

Corruption named as key issue by voters in exit polls
POSTED: 12:45 a.m. EST, November 8, 2006
(CNN) -- By a wide margin, Americans who voted Tuesday in the midterm election say they disapprove of the war in Iraq.
But when asked which issue was extremely important to their vote, more voters said corruption and ethics in government than any other issue, including the war, according to national exit polls.
A large majority of voters also disapproved of how Congress and President Bush are doing their jobs. However, Bush fared slightly better on that score than members of the GOP-led Congress.
And defying the traditional political maxim that "all politics is local," 62 percent of voters said national issues mattered more than local issues when deciding which House candidate to pick. (113,043 posts)you jump into a pro-Warren thread.
You just cant help yourself. Do you REALLY have to jump in and say the same thing over and over again? Try to show some self-restraint, please. Go post a positive thread for the candidate you prefer.
Stop hijacking positive threads for Warren. Thanks in advance.

(11,631 posts)Well I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but those themes seemed to work pretty well the last time we won. And in case you haven't been paying attention, Joe Biden was Obama's vice president, but he is clearly not the "yes we can" candidate this time around.

(68,552 posts)2006-pre-tea party...and before the ACA...I do not believe corruption is a voting issue...sure it is important but you must run on voting issues in order to win a general. Health care is big here in Ohio...and there is a great deal of anger towards Trump...but running on corruption is not goiing to sway the rust belt IMHO. When one supports a candidate, he/she has a tendency to agree with everything the candidate says or does...but step back and ask yourself...is someone in Wisconsin or Georgia as conerned about corruption as your candidate seems to be? I say no. Warren needs to pick one theme and use it...like Hope and Change...short, succint and positive.
Now as we have discussed, I don't want Warren to be the nominee, I think she wins the popular vote and loses the EC like Hillary, but I don't dislike her. She is a great Senator...just don't see her winning the presidency. However, should she be the nominee which I view as unlikely, she has my undying support in all areas including but not limited to fundraising, campaign work and of course getting out the vote/voting.

(113,043 posts)And, especially regarding health care and the environment and social justice.
You didnt even know that corruption was the top issue in the historic 2006 election. The pundits and strategists who think like you didnt expect it, either. Many of us at DU at the time did know it.
Trumps corruption is even more visible in 3yrs than Bush WH after 6yrs.
Your claim on this thread that corruption isnt an issue now and that you doubt it ever was an issue for voters is demonstrably uninformed.

Can you support that premise with objective data which implicitly denies all other viable alternatives other than the one you provided?
Or is simply another t-shirt slogan pretending to be clever?
(My guess is you'll fail to provide evidence, and rationalize an editorial as objective... but that's simply a guess)
