* Undiminished Joe Biden today defeats Donald Trump by 8 points, 49% to 41%, unchanged from August.
* Elizabeth Warren today defeats Trump by 2 points, 45% to 43%, unchanged from August.
* Bernie Sanders today defeats Trump by 5 points, 48% to 43%, a net gain of 3 points for President Trump, who trailed by 8 in August.
* Kamala Harris and Trump today tie, 44% each, effectively unchanged from August, when Trump trailed by 1.
* Trump today defeats Beto O'Rourke by 3 points, 44% to 41%, a pairing SurveyUSA did not test in August.
SurveyUSA interviewed 5,700 adults nationwide immediately after the Democratic candidates debated in Houston TX on 09/12/19. Interviews were conducted online 09/13/19 through 09/16/19. Of the adults, 4,520 were registered to vote.

(34,857 posts)In the RCP average at this point in 2015, she only led Trump by roughly three points. The race narrowed significantly in Sept., 2015, and while her lead would improve at times in the race on average, she never once hit that sizable cushion again:

In fact, the only time she was really above 50% was in April, 2016 - briefly.
People don't seem to realize how settled the race became in late 2015. Lots of incorrect info out there.

(11,986 posts)That addresses my fear that if we somehow managed to get rid of Trump, it would be harder for a Dem to win in 2020.
Also interesting that 88% of 2016 Trump voters do not regret their choice... and how close that is to the 90% of Clinton voters who do not regret that choice.
