It seems to be a favorite tactic here of some to slam people about their choice if they dare post anything about another candidate (whoever).

The usual saying is “you’re not doing (whoever) any favors with that comment.”

I truly don’t get that. I find it odd that somehow the poster’s choice is tarnished by whatever the poster might say.

...if I had to vote TODAY who would I vote for. I imagine almost everyone would vote for someone today if they had to, rather than stay home and not vote, whether they have an answer posted or not. But one should not assume that, just because we have declared a current preference, we have made a firm decision. Heck, I've already changed twice. I could change again, who knows? I don't recall the last time (if ever) my first choice during early primary season ended up being the nominee, so there has always been some level of disappointment. That said, Obama wasn't really a disappointment as much as a revelation for me. And while Warren wasn't my first choice this time around (I only recently switched from Harris), I've been hoping she would run since about... what time did they call it for Trump back in 2016?

although obviously I will support the Democratic nominee, whoever it turns out to be. I'm not stating a preference at this point because it seems like people draw inferences from a post that might not be accurate just by looking at the poster's designated favorite, and I don't want people making assumptions about me or my political views based on that. Furthermore, a certain level of rigid my-candidate-is-better-than-yours-and-yours-sucks behavior seems to be developing, as it did in 2016, and I don't want any part of that sort of destructive foolishness. So the content of my posts might seem to favor certain candidates over others, but in some cases I'm just defending a candidate from yet another instance of stupid nitpicking, even though that candidate might not be my top pick.

As for me,
Sanders then Warren. Whoever has the most momentum when things get going. I have affection for Sanders as first to market with his infinite history of boldness and unapologetic liberalism. I really wanted Warren in 2016, but was disappointed that she didn’t have the courage to take on Hillary, so Sanders got to be first.

I’ll admit that if the vote were today, I might just pull it for Warren. She is the smartest in the room and more competent - the momentum is starting to swing her way.

I don't like Joe but he seems to be the only one willing to say that gun confiscation is constitutionally problematic.

Warren is trying to "nice" her way into the nomination and it won't work. I'm not impressed with her anti-gun talk.

Love Bernie to beat the economic justice drum all the time, but he is handicapped by too many people who bitterly blame Bernie for HRC's 2016 loss. Like Warren, Bernie's not great on guns.

I decided early on to vote for whomever the nominee among all the wonderfully talented people we have running agaist the orange monster emerges as the winner!
So I am not undecided, am I?
I woul like VP Biden to win for this reason at this particular time as the rest of the world knows him and what he stands for, as being a good person and a man of his word!
But if this does not happen....I will gladly support the person who does become the nominee! So are there other people who feel thr same way?
You may all have your own favorites, but dont we all have the same goals?

there are others like u. If Warren gets to the point where her match ups with trump in the key states MI WI NC PA NV TX MN VA. are better than Biden's I will switch.

To me, with nothing done to protect the vote from TRussian interference we need to go with the person with the highest lead in the states they could potentially rig. Since trump can never keep a secret (his ego says I know something you don't know and I have to let you know that) he keeps mentioning that he will win MN..makes me think it's on the rigging plan.

54. Narrowed down to 2, but open to most

The NC primary is in early March, less than 6 months.

I really like Warren, and among the top 3 she is the youngest, smartest, has the best energy and is a woman. I am an unapologetic ageist when it comes to the presidency. I'd prefer a younger candidate, like Obama, who is 2 weeks older than I, or Bill Cinton (and recall bush2, who was not elected to his first term but was to his 2nd).

Having said that, I feel that Biden appeals to many more people for many more reasons. He is a bit of a buffoon, as I've stated in another post. I think that plays well to many. Not hoity toity, or appearing too smart, just a regular guy. In one discussion Warren was compared to a school teacher and others took offense. I think she's so smart she intimidates the common folk. While I find many here to be intelligent and thoughtful, much of the electorate is not. They want to feel safe, and want to relate to the candidate. That's why I mentioned bush2, because he wasn't smart but many liked him enough to reelect him.

Biden is a known entity whereas Warren scares many with her intelligence and ideas. I'm an intelligent woman (graduated college before I was 20), and have been misunderstood constantly throughout my life. When I show my intellect many think I am showing off, or trying to make them feel stupid; some are threatened by me, or presume I feel I am better. None of those are true, but it doesn't stop people from reacting to me in those ways. I sense many not on DU feel that way about Warren, while many are impressed when they hear her many just don't get her; they want to feel safe after 45, and Biden is who makes them feel the safest.

I think we need a smart, scrupulous, vital president. Obama was one. Then we got the exact opposite.
So I really don't want Biden, I want Warren. But I think and fear that she is too above the common voter.
And Obama stood out after Bush2 but didn't appear as exceptional until he was in office.

I want whichever candidate has the best chance with the general public, Dems, Independents, and disgruntled repugs. I don't trust the American people enough to choose an outstanding candidate.
Biden is not outstanding, he's an old white guy, trustworthy, who represents the way things were. Unfortunately many voters want to go back to the way things were. We need to move forward, and electing him may open the door and allow us to move forward. Especially if he were to find positions in his administration for those remarkable younger, energetic and progressive candidates.

Speaking personally, If I see Senator Warren, or.. well.. anyone other than Bernie Sanders overtaking Biden in the key battleground states, my choice will be changing with it. It's all about having as strong a chance of winning as possible for me, and winning equals carrying 270 EC votes.

it's whoever is the most viable between Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg by the day of the SC primary.

At this point, it would be Biden, but if he stumbles, and somehow Buttigieg catches fire, then perhaps I will have to reconsider.

I was decided when Inslee was in. He was best in the field IMO.

Now, leaning Warren. Also like Mayor Pete but he needs more pre-primary traction.

Also like Booker and Harris overall, but their legislative priorities are less defined. I like clarity and ambition and vision.

I like Sanders but the high negatives are a limiting factor.

Iffy on Kloubuchar after observing her campaign over time, although I do like her determination. Biden ranks low for me.

More than anything, I want to see a well executed campaign that energizes the state parties and takes bold steps to try and forge a new political consensus. Half measures are a non starter because they will leave the big problems intact.
