Biden in Des Moines: "Trump's doing this because he knows I'll beat him like a drum"

VIDEO at the URL.

On Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, former Vice President Joe Biden furiously laid into President Donald Trump amid reports he tried to strong-arm the Ukrainian government into digging up dirt on him and his son.

“Here’s what I know, I know Trump deserves to be investigated,” said Biden. “He is violating every basic norm of a president. You should be asking him the question, why is he on the phone with a foreign leader trying to intimidate a foreign leader, if that’s what happened? That appears to have happened. You should be looking at Trump. Trump’s doing this because he knows I’ll beat him like a drum and he’s using the abuse of power and every element of the presidency to try to do something to smear me.”

“Depending on what the House finds, he could be impeached, but I’m not making that judgment now,” continued Biden. “This appears to be an overwhelming abuse of power. To get on the phone with a foreign leader who is looking for help from the United States and ask about me and imply things — if that’s what happened, that appears to be what happened — we know that’s what Giuliani did. This is outrageous. You have never seen anything like this from any president.”

“I know what I’m up against,” Biden added to reporters asking whether it changes anything for his campaign. “I know what I’m up against, a serial abuser. That’s what this guy is. Abuses power anywhere he can, and if he sees any threat to his staying in power, he’ll do whatever he has to do. But this crosses the line. This crosses the line. I’m calling the president to release the transcript of the call, let everybody hear what it is. Let the House see it and see what he did. That’s what I’m calling on.”

Sep 2019

It's a story that neither Biden nor his son want to tell, but it's not a "career-ending scandal," and Trump is trying to deflect and turn it into exactly that.

I'm not Joe Biden, I can't speak for him, but if I were in the same shoes, I'd feel that the issue is that Trump is attempting to bully him, and that will go on for only so long.

There are two things we don't know today.

We don't know if Biden will become the Democratic candidate for president.

We don't know that Trump will agree to participate in debates with the Democratic candidate.

But if it is Joe, and if Trump shows up for the debates, Biden will flatten him.

And Trump knows this.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think they all have good ideas. But on day 1 Biden will be able to start doing the work to restore our standing in the world. The world knows him and respects him. I also think he'll try to approach policy in a bi-partisan way as long as Republicans are willing to cooperate.

corruption, charged congress with complicity, called for impeachment, left out the fact that this latest potential crime was one intended to destroy Joe Biden.

I am disappointed to see that neither Warren nor the others, save for Harris, can suspend competition for a moment, transcend political self-interest, to unequivocally defend Joe Biden. He was, after all, Obama’s VP, a long serving public servant, one who has given freely of his advice and support to Dem candidates, including to some of them.

Also disgusting to see NYT pushing a horse-race angle—maybe Biden goes under with Trump if the truth be told! Raking for muck.

In the Ukraine phone call story, the big picture must focus on Trump’s alleged crimes and cover-up,
but Biden is under siege—eight times Trump tried to dig the dirt. Fellow-Dems, rivals or not, should
express outrage, specifically on his behalf.

When the primaries are over and Biden is the nominee, the ticket will be Biden/ Harris. Harris seems well prepared and qualified to prosecute the case against trump. She knows she's not going to be the nominee, and it seems like her actions lately have been focused on attacking trum, especially in the last debate. Her latest statements defending Biden against trump's attacks just seem to be auditioning for the VP slot.

for going on the record and defending Joe Biden. Because that's what we need is a united front against the gaslighting coming from the White House. Why is this important for all our candidates? Because this is just a taste of what the Trumpers will throw during the GE. Regardless of who our nominee is, the garbage spew will be nonstop, ugly and outrageous. This isn't just an attack on Biden and his reputation; it's an attack on all of us, who we are, what we believe in, the rule of law.

Btw, this brazen attack will not help any other candidate; it will merely set the standard for the entire election. All of our candidates need to start pounding on this drum and shining lights on the gross corruption, abuse of power that threatens the security of the United States.

This is exactly what it's all about and why losing 2020 is not an option!
