I wonder if Trump and Giuliani considered how their Ukraine ploy might place the mantle of defending American democracy in 2020 firmly in the hands of Joe Biden, their most feared rival whose candidacy some had tried to frame as a relic of the past. Probably not.

3. I doubt they consider anything

cheating is part of the game, as are the public denials and distractions to cover it all up. Long experience convinces them they are very good at it. It's just a matter of creating enough confusion and allowing the right parts of their team to attest to their innocence.

But they never before experienced a situation where the whole world, for and against them, was onto their scheme. There exists no rug to sweep this one underneath.

4. This whole episode kind of cements the idea that

Biden is the best bet to defeat trump next fall. trump is truly scared shitless from whatever polling data and russian intel he has available to him. Maybe putin has warned that they can't hack beyond a 1 or 2 % margin without being discovered.
