Elizabeth Warren Hits House Dems for Not Impeaching Trump: 'Congress Failed to Act'

[link:https://www.mediaite.com/election-2020/elizabeth-warren-hits-house-dems-for-not-impeaching-trump-congress-failed-to-act/|

By Connor Mannion Sep 21st, 2019, 4:16 pm

2020 presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has renewed her call to impeach President Donald Trump over the ongoing whistleblower controversy, now criticizing Congressional leadership.

Warren was speaking in Iowa Saturday when she critiqued Congress and, implicitly, Democratic leaders like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on the results of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

“The government tried to investigate those activities. Donald Trump did everything he could to obstruct justice. I read all 448 pages and when I got to the end, I called for the impeachment of Donald Trump. Congress failed to act and now Donald Trump has shown that he believes he is above the law. He has solicited another foreign government to attack our election system,” Warren said.

“It is time for us to call out this illegal behavior and start impeachment proceedings right now,” she continued.

This is LEADERSHIP.

Don't start with the pfft about never saying anything remotely critical of leadership. Warren has kept her powder dry on this for months. Sometimes, you reach a point in American history when it is time to SPEAK UP. Choosing that time is leadership.

This statement is leadership. It's good for America and it's good for the party.

...kudos to Elizabeth; finally someone with 'balls'...

"Congress failed to act and now Donald Trump has shown that he believes he is above the law."

...this is what happens when we place politics above Constitutional responsibility...

“It is time for us to call out this illegal behavior and start impeachment proceedings right now,” she continued.

…this is what a powerful leader sounds like...this is what a real President sounds like...

"This statement is leadership. It's good for America and it's good for the party."

...this is a statement of extremely strong leadership and it's good for our Constitution and nation...

Line up some factual witnesses. Get enough votes in the House to support impeachment and put her ass what’s her mouth is?

It is so easy to criticize when you don’t have to do anything.

Oh by the way. Line up enough Repubs in the Senate to convict Trump.

As i mentioned upthread, id like to read her whole quote because it seems like shes calling out Congress in its entirety. The gopers need to step up and do their constitutional duty. And so does the rest of Congress.

MF45 needs impeachment proceedings pronto. And the whole body needs to do their jobs.

Which is pretty much what Kamala said in April

During a CNN town hall, Harris said she believes "Congress should take the steps toward impeachment." But, adding that she's "also a realist," Harris said it was highly unlikely that Senate Republicans would, if the House does vote to impeach Trump, vote to remove him from office.

"I've not seen any evidence to suggest that they will weigh on the facts instead of on partisan adherence to being protective of this president," she said. "And that's what concerns me and what will be the eventual outcome. So we have to be realistic about what might be the end result, but that doesn't mean the process should not take hold."

Kamala Harris says House should begin impeachment process of Trump via nbcnews - https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/kamala-harris-says-house-should-begin-impeachment-process-trump-n997386

Shes basically saying the same thing...the House needs to start impeachment proceedings. Kamala's words are more measured and explanatory, but her conclusion is the same. And i agree with them both.

Enough is enough. This tin horn criminal dictator needs to be impeached for real and if the current Dem leadership can't do it then they should step aside and let someone take the lead who can.
