I had a chance to chat with some of Warren's Iowa staff at the Steak Fry

I commented that I'd like to be able to support her, but I'm still worried that she'll be seen by the GE Electorate as espousing policies that are too radical, especially MfA. I said that if she could accept workers (esp. Union members) keeping their existing private policy IF THEY WANT TO, and allowing market forces to likely move people to Medicare when they compare the options, that would go a long way to making moderate voters more comfortable with he.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

They already know it. Doesn’t hurt being repeated and I think she is willing to make a move on it. Such a position would help her a lot more than hurt her, IMO.

The president has limited power when it comes to actually writing legislation. They can always give their input but, ultimately, congress creates the legislation that is enacted and it is always a compromise to one degree or another.

It seems clear what's going on here is that Warren is NOT going to let Bernie go left of her on policy. That's why Warren hasn't actually issued a healthcare plan. Warren's ultimate plan, once she's the nominee, will be more like Medicare for America, with choice, and perhaps a timed phaseout or similar.

Warren, "I'm a capitalist to my bones".

This MfA stuff is just a way to stay with Bernie and move the conversation left. (p.s. Bernie's ACTUAL governing record also reflects that he wouldn't die on the MfA hill either. He'd be happy to take a moderate health care plan like Buttigieg's).
