Iowans credit Warren's rise in the polls to ground game

Elizabeth Warren’s slow but steady rise in the first-in-the-nation caucus state is as much a result of her robust organizational presence here as it is a response to the Massachusetts senator’s many plans and policies, Iowa experts say.

“You’re seeing a major result of Sen. Warren being here a great deal, hiring a smart team in Iowa and executing a smart campaign operation,” said Matt Paul, a Des Moines operative who ran Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Iowa caucus campaign.

According to the latest Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom Iowa Poll, Warren now leads a crowded field of Democratic presidential contenders, displacing former vice president Joe Biden from the top of the poll for the first time this caucus cycle.

Twenty-two percent of likely Democratic caucusgoers say Warren is their first choice for president, compared with 20% for Biden and 11% for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. No other candidate reaches double digits.

Warren had more votes in the soybean poll than the rest combined but I didn't see her campaign anywhere.

the old Bean Jars. It does tell you loads about how the Populace feels.

What Warren did in Iowa is the way to win elections. Howard Dean as well as Bill Clinton did similiar types of meet and greets in Iowa.

People remember the little extra acknowledgements.

everyone does meet and greets in the first states. Clinton came in 2nd in nh but they treated it like a win becsuse it was better than people expected.

but kerry actually did more and was better at it than dean in 2004. especially during the end in the freezing weather.

Lots of boots on the ground, smart use of resources, and a nimble, highly disciplined candidate who can connect grand ideas with a personal touch.

Veterans of past campaigns can see where some candidates stumbled and others succeeded. This, more than anything, is why people are tipping Warren to rise to the top. It also augurs well for how she would govern.
