Presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke coming to Dayton Tuesday

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is coming to Dayton Tuesday for a “community meeting” scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. at McKinley United Methodist Church, 196 Hawthorn Street in Dayton.

A post on the former Texas congressman’s website says he is “traveling to towns and cities across America to introduce myself and hear from people like you about the ways we can move this country forward.”

O’Rourke has made gun law changes the key issue in his presidential campaign. In recent weeks and on the stage of the last debate in Houston, O’Rourke made a vow to take assault weapons such as AR-15s away from people.

O’Rourke believes that most people would follow the law and turn their weapons in under his proposal for a mandatory buyback program and assault weapons ban. O’Rourke’s presidential campaign has failed to gain traction. In the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll out this week, he is at just 1% in national support of Democratic voters.

1. I posted the same article earlier this morning.

I also note that the fourth paragraph that you have in your OP is not what is posted in the article.

The fourth paragraph of the article states:

“Hell yes, we’re gonna take your AR-15, your AK-47,” he said at the debate.O’Rourke represented the El Paso, Texas area in Congress.

Please correct your OP to reflect what was written by the author of the article instead of cherry-picking the article and editing.

Due to the four paragraph limitations of DU restricting what can be quoted
(which, true, many do not follow)
when quoting published articles,
what I posted is a compilation of what is in the article.

When posting from articles,
I do not always post "the first four paragraphs",
but will post sections I wish to cite in my post.

My formating,
I believe,
follows the rules allowed,
as set out on DU.

Again, what I posted is in the linked article.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

All you would need to do is include the word "snip" between the third and fourth paragraphs. It's a simple fix to let readers know that you omitted material in the article without having to go to the link.

While your concern is complying with the four paragraph rule on DU, altering the original text of an article to select specific sentences changes the context of the article and would be admonished in an academic setting.

Would you like it if someone parsed something that you wrote to cherry pick selected sentences, but presented it as your original piece of work? I doubt it, so show respect to the author instead of writing a compilation that is not properly attributed.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
