BREAKING: Tougher criteria announced for future (post-October) debates

NEW: DNC polling thresholds out for the November debate. 165,000 donors and 3% polling in four polls or 5% in two-early state polls

Checkout time for Amy Klobuchar and possibly Cory Booker and Julian Castro.

...Ultimately he (and other candidates have to get above 15% when voting starts or they won't get delegates.

3. If anything, this criteria is still overly generous to minor candidates.

I'd be a hypocrite to want to open up the debate then, but close it to moderates now.

My wife disagrees, but I think the debate schedule is progressing at just about the right pace. February is still a long time away.

an airing of them. At this point you'd have to be brain dead to be a republican. We have a lot more to offer and we're better looking (in all ways). This is going to be a fight and we've got lots of strength, youth, diversity and woman power that the other side doesn't have.

as long as everyone knows the criteria and has enough time to reasonably reach the goals set, then it is up to the candidates and their campaigns to do so. They have to sell their ideas to enough people to reach the goals, it is as simple as that.

It's somewhat out of the candidates' control. Let's say a candidate wants to aim for "5% in two-early state polls." Without knowing which of those states will even HAVE any more qualifying polls come out before the deadline--and I suppose it's possible that none will?--then focussing on some of those states would be a bit like buying a lottery ticket. So I think that qualification is just there to make sure none of the front-runners can unexpectedly be dropped. For everyone else, I think it's just more of the same... get as many contributions as possible, and hope that you get enough traction to get over 3% in enough national polls from the particular pollsters that are on the qualifying list.

9. Ultimately it does come down to selling your vision and policy proposals

To as broad an audience as you can. In doing so, the candidate/campaign should achieve the goal. If they cannot do so, well either their vision or their ability to sell it are in error with the electorate.
