WaPo reporting Trump told Mulvaney to withhold Ukraine aid at least a week befoore 7/25 call.

I'd wondered earlier about the timing of the 7/25 call because it coincided with the release of a Fox News poll showing Biden beating Trump by double digits:

But after finding out tonight that Trump decided to withhold the aid to Ukraine by July 18 or earlier, I decided to look back at older polls at FiveThirtyEight to see what polls might've caught Trump's attention in the week or two before that decision.

And I found two.

An NBC/WSJ poll released July 14 had shown Biden beating Trump by 9 points.

And an ABC/WaPo poll released the week before that showed Biden beating Trump by double digits.

Both are A-rated polls. So is the Fox News poll released in late July.

So Trump made a decision to withhold aid to Ukraine after two A-rated national polls showed him losing to Biden by at least 9 points, and he called the Ukrainian president about the same time the results of the Fox News poll were released. (His phone call might've been hours before those results were released to the media, but I'd guess Trump's buddy Hannity had the poll results a bit earlier.)

Maybe, as I said in my earlier post about this, the timing with the polls was just coincidental.

But we know Trump's obsessed with polls. And these were A-rated polls from major media outlets.

And all three of them made it crystal clear that Biden would beat Trump like a drum.

Unless Trump could find some way to damage Biden's campaign...

to corroborate that's what trump and his doormats did or it's all just a huge coincidence.

Thank you for the timeline on trump's actions and the polls against trump and for Biden at the time, highplainsdem!

They can always say, "That's not what we meant!"

But the timeline is important-- this was a threat/extortion to Ukraine.

I want to apologize to Ukraine, an ally of ours which has been struggling towards democracy despite all of Putin's interference and incursions.
They deserve better from us.

I want to say I hate Trump. And it's not something visceral. It's because of the evil things he does, and the way he trivializes and trashes all the hard work of everyone else.

>Note- tonight's WAPO story about Mulvaney withholding the $400 mil came from 3 WH sources

He's pointing out that the WH staff is disintegrating and leaking.

We think they're insanely "loyal", but no admin has ever leaked like this.
