CNN Names Beto The 6 Million Dollar Man!

Woah! Beto. Steve Austin was the Six Million Dollar Man. Both now 6 Million Dollar Men.

Beto is a newbie, name barely known outside Texas. I guess the States are watching since donations came from fifty of them.

Geez, they even look alike!

What a hoot!

Fact is I am loving this.

Go Beto.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

All superstars.

Great part about it is that the more divisive candidates will learn quick that's not going to work for the Democratic Party constituents.

I want intellectuals! I'm really sick of populism and sick of hearing the word "transformational." I want someone who can do the damn job. If people want things transformed they should start with themselves, their communities, and their states. I'm cranky.

Warren is my Senator. She is not my first choice as President. She is better served as our Senior Senator.

She created the CFPB. Repukes derailed her heading the agency. President Obama then urged her to run for the Senate.

...........................................

"I want to take a look at what would have happened if you had gotten your wish and the CFPB had been abolished," she said. Since its creation, the bureau has returned a total of $12 billion to consumers by clawing back money from companies that cheated them. The people who benefited, Warren says, included seniors, students and active-duty military.

"Here's what you don't get, Mr. Mulvaney. This isn't about me. This is about about active-duty military. It's about first responders and students and seniors and families ... and millions of other people who need someone on their side when consumers get cheated," Warren said.

She added: "You are hurting real people to score cheap political points."

snip

In a hearing of the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday, New York Democrat Carolyn Maloney said the bureau used to bring several enforcement actions a month against financial companies. She pressed Mulvaney:

Maloney: "So let me ask you how many enforcement actions has the bureau initiated since you took over?"

Mulvaney: "We have initiated none since I've been there."

Maloney: "So it's zero."

Mulvaney said he is bringing a less aggressive approach. His vision for the CFPB is one that is run with more humility and prudence. Maloney asked him, "Does your new approach involve bringing any actual enforcement actions?"

Mulvaney countered that there were 100 active investigations and 25 ongoing lawsuits, though he acknowledged that the suits were initiated under the previous Obama-era director.

Here is the truth: this morning, Beto O’Rourke announced that he raised more money than us on the first day of his presidential campaign.

The good news is, we more than likely had a lot more individual donations than he did.

But what that means is if we are going to avoid getting outspent, it’s going to take lots and lots of people making individual donations to catch up. We already have that… but we have to pick up the pace.

And that’s especially important with the first official FEC fundraising deadline coming up. S

We "more than likely had a lot more individual donations than he did"?

How would anyone know that yet? Many people don't find speculation like that particularly helpful or responsible.

Why not simply wait until the FEC filings are made public? As long as those filings are honest and complete, they give the voters concrete information rather than blind guesses that could morph into apocryphal narratives going forward.

by saying that they might not have taken the lead by "progressive" standards.

As though it doesn't reeeeeaaaaly count if they aren't all separate small individual donations.

But what about individual donors?

In the past, people have given many, many small donations to campaigns, and the FEC then found out later some individuals gave over the legal limit for campaign contributions - like one person donating $27 ten times.

That's not really what I would call ten individual donations. But a campaign might claim that data point of "donations" shows they have far more small donors than they do.
