Trump insiders see reasons to worry about Warren

The Hill

President Trump’s allies see reasons to worry about the rise of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who is gaining steadily in Democratic primary polls and attracting huge crowds of supporters to her campaign rallies.

The Hill interviewed more than a half-dozen current or former advisers to Trump, and about half viewed Warren as the most formidable nominee in a head-to-head match-up against Trump, while the other half described former Vice President Joe Biden as the tougher general election foe.

To many Trump World insiders, Warren increasingly looks like the candidate with the best shot at winning the nomination. The two most recent surveys of Iowa and New Hampshire show Warren edging Biden, with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) fading into the pack.

The Trump allies who view Warren as the strongest general election Democrat described her as a “movement” candidate with crossover appeal between the left and the center.

translation with this article's bias: less than half -- see Warren as most formidable.

And they interviewed "more than a half-dozen" advisers, which probably means 7, out of whom 3 are more worried about Warren than Biden.

The polls have shown Trump has some reason to be worried about almost any Democratic candidate.

But they've also shown he should be most worried about Biden.

And Trump's attacks on Biden, including via Ukraine, show how aware he is of how much of a threat Biden is to him.

The point is clearly that Biden's once-commanding lead in the polls has slipped to the point where a single competitor is now vying with him for the polling lead. On top of that, she is also vying with him for the lead in the "most likely to beat Trump" polls. She may (or may not) have taken the lead on that last question, but either way the trends are decidedly in Warren's favor. Even the most fervent Biden supporters cannot honestly deny that.
