While presidential candidate Beto O' Rourke was getting cheers inside Lavery Brewery from supporters, he was receiving jeers outside from people against his platform.
Pro-gun and anti-abortion advocates held a protest outside the bar on W. 12th St. during his campaign visit to Erie. Protestors held signs and flags to show their displeasure with the democratic candidate.
"Protesting isn't one of my favorite things, but the extremism that we're seeing this time around in the elections can't go unanswered,"executive director of People for Life, Tim Broderick said.
There was police presence between the Beto supporters and the protestors, but there were never any serious moments of tension. Protestors also referenced the candidate's recent comments on taking away assault weapons. Some saying his views do not align with what's best for the country.

(9,953 posts)... the line in the debate made me happy. He never said he was against a hunter's rifle... alas, the Trump scandals take all the news, but this gun conflict would otherwise give Beto momentum. More of the candidates need to state their views, in blunt ways. So what if the Deplorables say they won't vote for you!

(89,247 posts)what's funny is they like to call him beta, cuck, loser or anything else and they see themselves as the tough guys. no , you aren't fucking tough if you need to always carry and show off some weapon in places where there are people buying food, kids playing, and people just hanging out and having fun.
and what is their obsession with other men's masculinity ?
and this is probably not important but all of these guys are fucking ugly also.

(205,242 posts)I'd beat it out of there and report it to somebody. And I shot competitively in my youth, was on a couple of rifle teams, but even as young teens we knew and followed the rules. They guns stayed locked up unless we were at practice or at a match.

(5,275 posts)The trouble caused by the 2nd Amendment is incalculable.
That Amendment was written a long time ago in a different time. They could not, at that time, have foreseen the trouble and carnage it would facilitate much later in a different time.
But context is lost on those gun nuts today so thousand, including children, get consistently gunned down.
