Democratic Primaries

Yes, Michael Bennet is still running for president.
Although he failed to qualify for the September debate in Houston and has yet to reach polling numbers above 2%, the U.S. senator from Colorado isnt giving up without a fight.
Weve been bumped off the front pages, Bennet told MSNBCs Lawrence ODonnell at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin on Saturday. What Im going to do, is communicate with voters in the early states.
And he has yet to meet the polling and contribution thresholds to participate in the October debate. Candidates are required to meet a 2% polling threshold in four Democratic National Committee-approved polls and have at least 130,000 donors.
I think the DNC shouldnt have made the decisions they have, he said. Kicking me off the debate stage because Im not a celebrity politician ... probably isnt the greatest idea in the world.

(1,812 posts)No one is interested in your campaign... Drop out......What about getting zero support in the polls don't you understand ?... You are embarrassing yourself There are several candidates in the field that should take this advice.... What happened to the good old days when 7 or 8 major candidates ran for President .That is enough .

(8,745 posts)Unless Bennet is expecting to be adopted by Barack Obama, his time has come.
Ironically, the reviews said that Bennet made the case for being moderate better than the frontrunner. But he can't call on being the wingman of a highly popular ex-President, so tough luck.
Seems like a nice enough guy, though.

(31,893 posts)THIS is the person I want for President!
All I can say, is damn, he's good! Absolutely first rate analysis and grasp of the issues, thoroughly grounded in history, philosophy, social justice issues - I couldn't have agreed more with every single thing he said. He embodies everything I could wish for in a president.
He's the one I want, dammit!

(7,800 posts)Would be highly electable, and would very likely make the best President.
It is still early, and I'm very glad he hasn't dropped out.
It's a shame to hold it against him that a bout with prostrate cancer delayed his entry into the race.

(31,893 posts)I didn't know about the prostrate cancer. I'm sorry to hear that it delayed his entry into the race.
Honestly, as much as possible, I've avoided paying much attention to the primary race.
I haven't much cared who ends up as the Dem nominee - since, for the most part they are all good people. And I find arguing over who might be the best nominee unbearably tedious.
But I broke my own rule to speak up about Bennet, because he so impressed me as being everything I would want in a candidate. I get paid this coming Friday, and I plan on sending him a few bucks - I want to let him know that he's appreciated.
