https://people.com/politics/hillary-clinton-defends-joe-biden-women-physical-touching-kisses/Multiple women have said Bidens boundary-blurring physical affection toward them over the years, including back touches and kisses on the head, was disrespectful and uncomfortable.
Some of his comments on the campaign trail such as calling an event moderator who was asking questions about his voting record lovely and a real sweetheart and telling a teenage girls brothers to keep the guys away have also raised eyebrows in a race with multiple women running for president. (By contrast, Sen. Elizabeth Warren tells girls at her events that she is running for president because thats what girls do.)
For goodness sake, Im sorry, I have to jump in because Ive heard a little bit about that, Clinton told PEOPLE in a joint interview with her daughter last week, after they were asked if some female voters would be less than enthusiastic about Biden as the Democratic nominee, given his behavior.
I mean, I dont think that the Twitterverse is the American electorate, but there are lots of vocal voices that say all kinds of things, said Clinton, 71.
She said that Biden, 76, who is a leading contender to challenge President Donald Trump in next years election, is a thoroughly decent human being who has served our country honorably and well for decades.
-snip-
She went on to say that anyone who runs for office can be "picked apart" for minor things, but that distracts from the goal of getting rid of Trump.

Yes! Focus on frigging Donald Trump. He is the enemy, the threat to the country and the world. He is the Corrupter-in-Chief.

You dragging up stuff that happened that many years ago when everyone else has moved on (including Anita Hill who said she would be voting for Joe Biden) does nothing to change the minds of voters.

(4,344 posts)start to well up thinking about the last election. Hillary not only exceeds all the qualifications, she exudes an honor that is needed in the White House. I know she recognizes that honor and those qualifications in Joe too. Two great leaders that we, as a Democratic Party, are blessed to have as members.

And FWIW, the SurveyUSA A-rated national poll done earlier this month shows Biden doing better than Warren among the 18-34 age group, though Sanders, who is apparently offering more for free, does better than either Warren or Biden.
http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=af31ac4e-3786-426b-828e-6359cb6c34bb
Of the 18-34 year olds surveyed, Sanders gets 33%, Biden gets 19%, Warren gets 17%.
But Biden wins every other age group.
And overall, in that poll, Biden has 33% support compared to 19% for Warren and 17% for Sanders.

(8,745 posts)None of them said Biden's behavior amounted to sexual harassment or assault.
People need to have some sense of proportion. Biden never meant to abuse his male privilege or make anyone feel degraded. He's just a physically affectionate guy who sometimes unwittingly crossed boundaries.
Compare that to Trump, who loves nothing more than to crush the souls of women. Because he's literally an evil creep.

We can pick apart anybody. I mean, thats a great spectator sport. But this man whos there in the Oval Office right now poses a clear and present danger to the future of the United States. So get over it, Clinton said. Look at the candidates, look at what theyve accomplished, look at what they have fought for and vote for anybody to get rid of Donald Trump.

(8,745 posts)Get over it, folks. Women are not going be to less than enthusiastic about Biden just because he has a little grandfatherly physical affection towards some younger women. This is 2019. Clinton went up against the biggest sexist on the planet. She knows a thing or two about sexism, and she sees nothing wrong with it.
Given the choice between Trump and Biden, there is no choice. End of story. Nothing more to say. Leave it at that.
